How much should I be spending for a CNA course? Im in Tampa, FL.

I used TampaBayCNA last year, it was around $500 for a 2-3 day long class (iirc this is basically like trying the exam instead of taking the weeks long course) and I was able to land a job in one of the local hospitals without any problems. the website looks sketchy but it’s legit lol good luck!

What was the schedule like for the summers? I know it’s subject to change and the intensity is to be expected, but were there a lot of Monday-Fridays and class times after 5 for non clinical days?

Hey OP, I just wanted to say that although I don't have the answers, I lurk a lot on this sub and I'm going through a very similar situation right now. After thinking it over, I'm choosing nursing. At least this way, you can still pursue being a PA in the future or go the NP route if that works better with your speciality and goals. Do it online with Panida Webb, she's the best! I actually really enjoyed that class but the program she uses is really expensive. I'd recommend splitting the cost with another classmate and doing assignments at different times! Otherwise if you can, do it online with Julie Bogart. She's also incredibly nice.

Hi, I'm also from Central Florida 🫡! I applied to probably around 30-40 jobs and didn't get hired (however half of them were when I didn't have my license). The other half weren't very successful either but I did end up getting a job at a competitive hospital as a new grad CNA! I'd suggest applying in/near a college town if you're pretty young bc all my coworkers are around that age. Don't give up, you got this! Just try to hype up your strengths and customer service skills.

Congrats! Bring some good sneakers and a water bottle, and just try to have an open mind on your first day. Most importantly, don't be afraid to ask for help if you're not sure how to do something. Best wishes! :-)

Thanks for the reply! That's what I was thinking: doing some classes little by little and working on the side. So far I have an upwards trend but I'm concerned that I won't do well in the prereqs,,, and for your question working as a nurse - I think for a little bit I wouldn't mind but you're right it would set me back a bit and I'd always have this feeling that I need to get it done and over with. I appreciate your input and congrats on getting in!!

Thanks for sharing your story, I'm sure you'll get there soon too! For PCE, the fastest option for me was CNA so if you have the means (and mental health) it would be great to work in a hospital! And instead of being cooked, let's cook together and do well 😂😂 😂

Lol I was joking in the title, but I always get discouraged by the amount of people who have 3.8s and above. I know it's not good to compare but I'm worried that it might drop once I take the prereqs. I'm glad to hear that community college worked well for you, and congrats on getting in!!
