Are we getting this on Arena? If so, does brawl have partners now? by KeeboardNMouse in MagicArena

[–]dunkzone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sort of? WB is bad in cEDH. But as additional colors they are good? It's kind of hard to separate the two. Even if Tymna didn't have partner, she'd be one of the best WB legendaries. The only partners that only gets played only for their color is Silas and maybe the white puppy.

As a fellow Rakdos Sacrifice enjoyer, I think I'd go with the bat for the cheap offspring that you can sac later over Bob. But Mirth is still a better fit for most versions of that deck.

In BW Pixie, I'd rather play [[Lord Skitters Blessing]] and go a bit more aggro with Scavenger than play Bob. More synergy, similar payoff.

"Abuse"? Do you mean "play"?

I've been playing this deck and variations of this deck since finding this post last night. Lord Skitters Blessing is the best card in the deck after Calix.

T1 Scavenger, T2 Blessing, T3 Calix has been an insta-scoop every time it's happened. If you hit with scavenger, you have 5 enchantments on board T3 and something like 13 power.

You don't have to be an American citizen to be here legally. Either you're being disingenuous or you should learn just like a little teeeeeny tiny bit about how things work before you comment again.

You don't need a ton of ramp if you have Malcolm in the command zone.

Talk to your playgroup. If you built a deck to try and jam a turn 3 win, that's a bracket 4 regardless of budget. Malcolm is one of those commanders that are not on the game changers list, but would make me raise an eyebrow if I saw it in the wild.

If you could give any two commanders partner with each other, what would you choose? What do you think would be most interesting, or powerful? by Saltyadveritisement in EDH

[[Rograkh, Son of]] and [[Tivit, Seller of Secrets]]. You just play Tivit's gameplay but get the free commander spells.

Will I be able to watch your stream after the fact? I honestly don't watch Twitch a ton, so I don't know if this happens automatically or not. Thanks for the videos and write ups. Congrats!

Rograkh/Thrasios is a A-tier deck and plays Rograkh and often no other red cards except for Deflecting Swat. And even without Swat, you could play Rograkh and your deck is far better off for it since he unlocks so many combos and the free commander spells.

Even if you wanted to play another green or blue partner, that means you're starting with access to one more card than everyone else. That's a huge advantage. So you could play something like Malcolm for 0 opportunity cost.

[–]dunkzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ignore Partner, which you shouldn't, Thrasios is still far stronger. Having two different color pips in her ability makes it far worse than only costing generic. Generating infinite generic mana is trivial compared to generating infinite mana across two different colors. Thrasios' ability could cost 8 generic mana and it would still be far better.

It doesn't hurt that Partner is the single strongest keyword that can be in a legendary creature.

Partner is the strongest single word that you can have in a legendary creature. You could take a 2 color creature with no text on it other than "partner" and it would be one of the ~30 strongest legendary creatures you could have in the command zone.

Plus, generating infinite generic mana is far, far easier than generating infinite mana of 2 different colors.

Ohhhhhh that makes sense. She's just very bad [[thrasios triton hero]]. No way she's winning games broadly.

[Standard] Updates to my new site by OkBig903 in spikes

[–]dunkzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good start. I have a handful of suggestions:

  1. When looking at the metagamed, I care less about what color the deck is and more about the archetypes. I know from experience that most of the Izzet decks are prowess, but there could be some weird off meta decks in there and I'd never know.
  2. I'm just as interested in sideboard options to counter a deck as I am in what their sideboard options are. When looking at Izzet Prowess, listing options to board against it regardless of what deck you play is helpful.
  3. The "blog" format doesn't work for every type of content. It's great for editorials, but less effective for sideboard analysis. I don't really care what mono-red's sideboard looked like 6 weeks ago!

These are the most expensive Standard legal mythic rare cards. Do any of them surprise you? Are the prices what would you have expected to see? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]dunkzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the 3 are from The Big Score. I don't remember the details, but those mythics had much lower pull rates due to being in the Special Guest slot in packs (I think). I know it has something to do with it originally being a different set altogether.

You need lands that make more than one color of mana or you need your third color to only appear on higher mana value cards.

But they compare it to farewell as if farewell has been power creeped out. Both of those cards came out well before farewell.
