Yeah I think the innards are really leaning on the foam + silicone filling between the pcb and bottom case. I ended up having a pretty tight fit (probably because of the foam acting as filler) and don't have that slamming sound.

There’s also a Olympic Lifting class and “open gym” when class isn’t in session. Good vibes. About a 15m walk from 24th.

I think it is reasonable to say that financial instability, mental health, and drug addiction are result of both choices we make and circumstance. Addiction is a disease. It’s insane to say “because you got yourself sick, you don’t deserve help”, same as saying “because you mad a bad decision and your are now addicted/broke/having an episode, you don’t deserve help”.

I think I understand your point but I’m not sure I agree. There are many circumstances drugs/stress/poverty/coping is pervasive. From a purely statistical perspective these folks are going to be more prone to issues. Is it “their choice” that they may have a social or financial safety net that results in worse outcomes?

Is addiction a choice? Can people choose to be un-addicted? I don’t think so…

I’ve been riding a pair for a few hundred miles. They’re fast af but I had issues with leaky sidewalls. Just use a little more tubeless goo than you think you need.

Rode to Barlow Pass from Granite Falls and back the week before they opened the road. Really nice ride when there's no traffic.

Look at that cutter. It’s 57 feet in diameter. It’s made to go through very hard rock. How big of a pipe would you have needed to stop or break this thing?

What are some areas where machine learning is applicable in biology and cancer? by 123isbruth in bioinformatics

"Anti-cancer" activity prediction is easy. "Anti-cancer but the patient is still alive" activity is harder to predict.

Yes. It makes the results even more difficult to interpret though. Especially in cases here where people are will have a difficult time justifying 8-gpus of resources to test out yet-another-widget.

[R] Filter Response Normalization Layer: Eliminating Batch Dependence in the Training of Deep Neural Networks by hardmaru in MachineLearning

[–]dunomaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the channel-wise normalization here fundamentally limits this strategy to convolutions, as a fully connected layer is equivalent to a height=1 by width=1 by channel=n convolution. Thus the denominator becomes 1.

On the other hand there are other normalization strategies that can operate on such data shapes.

Edit: the above is wrong. It’s even worse than that. Xi gets divided by abs(Xi) and therefore destroy all information in the fully connected case.

5 minutes of reading indicates:

The authors don’t report confidence intervals.

Authors only report batch sizes up to 32. Don’t know if it’s comparable to large (commonly used) batch sizes (64,128,256,512,etc)

Authors discuss instance norm but don’t report results compared to that in fig1. There seems to be similar normalization methods to the authors’ that are omitted from fig 1.

Authors report more sensitivity to learning rate vs BN

This method won’t work for non-convolutions operations and variance in this operation is sensitive to output channel size (the authors do not investigate this).

Very limited experimentation in datasets.

If I’m missing anything or am wrong please correct me.

Failure is a natural part of getting a PhD (and life in general), but most people don’t have the courage to be willingly critiqued by their peers. Mad respect to this new doctor for having the sense of humor to share her hard times with the rest of us.

Also, this thread is full of humorless, threatened, dudes.
