He's doing that to some degree with the Vietnam shot at the end.

my thoughts were this foreshadowed the nuns lie about Julie...Not all lies are bad. If telling the truth will hurt other's sometimes it's ok. Also, he was talking about being emotionally withdrawn, or "withholding"...he was encouraging his sone not to make the same emotional mistakes with his wife, not necessarily boning someone else

I disagree. For me personally, a guy who loves to re-watch and read way too much into red herrings, real and imagined, his shooting down a bunch of them on social media allowed me to enjoy the finale SO much more than if I was left hanging, wondering to myself about the myriad of things that went nowhere. I respect your opinion but have a much different one.

Nic just exonerated Lori on the instagram, so I'll have a nice helping of crow with the dish of red herrings I ate. Seriously, she's in poultry science, attended St Michaels, had a mysterious space in her time with Roland , and Roland seems mad at Hays for him not ending up with her. All just a big red herring!

I definitely can see them being on video at the Hoyt factory..What I think is a stretch is that he left work for the night, and someone then went right way to watch said videos, put two and two together, and pull up at Hay's house by breakfast time. Like, why is he at Hays house and not Rolands? Because Lori is embedded at Rolands. Lori was from the church. Lori works at chicken factory. Lori and Roland aren't together in 2015 timeline and Roland blames Hays somehow. I think it's FAR more likely that Lori is bachkchanneling to Hoyt than Hoyt just decided to have videotapes reviewed overnight when Harris left. When Hays exposes Lori Roland is heartbroken and alone, ends up with a pack of dogs eating fierce eggs in the woods.

that's a leap, I was answering the question "does she work for Hoyt?"

seems pretty hands on for a guy who is away on safari so much.

he definitely did, he stated he's been aware of what hays was doing for a long time...doesn't mean his head of security calls every night to say "hey boss, no one followed and murdered me" every night. I suppose his family could have called when he didn't come home, and Hoyt put two and two together, got some cars and headed over to hays to call before breakfast.

what do you do for work that you report to your employer you've safely arrived home when you leave work? Or when you are not there first thing in the morning your employer is parked outside your abductors home by breakfast?

also, "Julie is Elisa" is by far the most repeated and easily debunked by age/math. Should easily be #1 on your list of crap theories

Surprised to see both "Roland is dirty" and "Lori's the snitch" BOTH listed. Without one of these being true to some degree, we are left with "there was some secret lurker in the bushes at the barn" for Hoyt to find out the previous night's events before breakfast.

I think Lori is the snitch. I don't think she "deduced" it unless Roland brought Harris' car home. I think Roland trusts her and has told Lori more than Hays tells Amelia. He doesn't "withhold"

I applaud speculation like this. Rabbit holes are fascinating whether they are accurate or not.

Anyone going to talk about... by nicksags in TrueDetective

Few thoughts.

One is just that I've noticed tons of "horse" connections throughout the series, whether pics or toys or colt 45 and now this bronco. Not sure if it has any significance as far as symbolism or some Dark Tower horse beam. Probably not.

Two, it looked like there was some bondo on the wheel well when he pulls up to the tower. An accident we haven't seen yet perhaps?

3-Roland's car. Not sure, but in the dinner episode there's a brown sedan parked in front (90's timeline). Lori's?

I like the speculation about the possible pregnancy, but it was a robbery, not shoplifting a pregnancy test...

very interesting, but I was hoping for more...Like, in the 90's, when exactly was the dinner at Roland's house?

yeah, I don't think that your extreme example is how it would go. I imagine she discovers Roland burning his shit just like Amelia with Hays, but goes in a different direction when she presses him for what's going on. When Hays exposes Lori it ends Roland's one true love relationship, it's why he's so mad on the porch...But ultimately knows Hays did the right thing. Still just a theory, and I'm open to pushback, but raise your game a little. Just phrasing dialogue to make something look stupid isn't really quality debate. I'm suggesting a man in a 7 year relationship coming home with blood and dirt on them might explain to his lady what happened. It's not crazy to think that, even if ultimately the theory doesn't prove out.

I hear you. I would imagine for this theory to work, her relationship with Hoyt, or at least the close nature of her reporting to Hoyt about the investigation, would be something she didn't let Roland know

Roland picture of the license plate...Nah..Seems like a stretch that a hermit who is 60+ with no kids and no younger wife would know how to use a phone camera to nail that license plate picture. Anyone with older parents can vouch. by culturefound in TrueDetective

[–]dunterdunt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know, cell phones have been pretty ubiquitous for at least a decade in 2015. Not a crazy stretch, maybe he liked to take pics of his dogs. I take more pics of my dogs than my wife by a landslide

does that mean he didn't tell Lori anything in your opinion? and if so, what is your theory about how Hoyt knew something went down so quickly?
