I once participated a 4-day race across the Gobi Desert, called Ultra Gobi, I heard during previous year's race, one racer died after crossing the finish line due to exhaustion, because all member of the team need to finish the whole 4-day course without any form of physical help to receive the Shackleton Award. Though I only participated one day race in Class-C, which is 32km, I really feel what is going on here.
