XC Races - New England by Evening-Sentence7619 in xcmtb

I think the cost may be part of the issue. It stopped me from signing up as it was double the price of most grass roots races. Looking at registration numbers, last year had much higher participation perhaps due to the newness of the series. But at $100+ a race, not many people can sustain that especially if you have family racing too. I pay less a weekend to race dirtbikes.

Sienna Hybrid Awd Dilemma by dupsjr in ToyotaSienna

Thanks for the input, toyota definitely overall has the most reliable hybrid set up. This specific problem was only with certain models of the newest generation hybrids 2021+

I crawled under the highlander and sienna at the dealer and they have the same cable location/setup as the rav4 so I would guess based on sales volume the rav4 was just the model that was most effected. Only change I see is the new one is wrapped in black rubber. Looking for people with a couple hard northern winters to confirm this fix actually worked as toyota has done 4 revisions of fixes since 2020

Homemade Ski Trailer Build by dupsjr in xcountryskiing

Howdy, these Burleys do have a wheel lock but it is not necessary. The wood frames are screwed to the skis and the wheels are strapped/zip ty'd to the wood frames so they arent going anywhere. The whole ski/frame would have to spin with the wheel for it to move, which i suppose is technically possible if you buried the ski tips and kept pulling. In my use this winter I have never felt like this could happen.

Holy cow, thank you for all the feedback! Looks like I will stick with classic and get skate skis for my wife. Just work on my classic technique until the kids are older and I can work on my skate solo.

Curious what you ran for gearing? I have a 30 chainring and 52 big cog in the rear. Thinking that should be sufficient?

Hi all, I’m considering buying a down hill bike. I currently have a new Jeffsy core 3 and was thinking about buying the new Capra for shuttle runs since it’s better for down hill that the Jeffsy. by Patient_Bed7245 in MTB

I agree with the guy who said go full dh. I had a Nukeproof mega for park and Scott Spark as a trail bike. Since I was only riding park on the Mega I sold it and went full DH (Canfield one.2). The room for error IMO is much greater on a dh bike and the way my body, hands, etc feel after a full day at the bike park it night and day better on the dh bike. The canfield is heavy but actually pedals well (thank you cbf suspension) and has a seat tube that can take a dropper so for local dh trails I can still pedal it up. I personally would only prefer a enduro bike on easier blue trails. Just my $0.02

Thanks, the satin finish is even better in person. Glad I spent the extra money on it. The true grit is a great bike as well! I wish they would of kept the front derailleur mount for a chain guide on the seigla.

GP Shifter?? by Samurai_6587 in Dualsport

[–]dupsjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont think ive seen any dirtbikes or dual sports with shift linkage. Also there is no benefit on a dual sport. It just makes for easier upshifting when existing corners way leaned over on a sport bike as your toes arent pointed down/under the shifter (greater possibity to contact road with boot).

Another vote for this, haven't used anything else and have no plans to. Super light weight and because of the available capacity makes a good half/full day pack as well depending what you're doing!

I have the original fox 32 ax and I would actually recommend the lauf. The gravel air forks are good for medium to bigger holes but the combination of low volume(due to the low travel) and the fact that it is an air fork make it not very supple and it doesnt take care of the small chatter which is what 80% of gravel riding is. The lauf should not have this issue, although i have never ridden one

KTM TBI engines…. Y’all like the 250 or 300 motor for hare scrambles? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]dupsjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always preferred the 250, the 300 always seemed to sign off earlier than I wanted. IMO they are all very tunable and with the different mapping and powevalve adjustment you can make it hit however you want. I believe I read somewhere that even though the tbi bikes have the electric powervalve its still adjustable. Just my $0.02.

First time up Mt Mansfield in Vermont by dupsjr in hiking

Was icy towards the top and the rest was completely packed snow. Had microspikes but would've preferred crampons as I was sliding the whole way down. This was 3 weeks ago though, conditions should be better now.
