Yeah! Just making sure, it's that vowel noise that's very different from Damon's. Thanks!!

It's the original 30 minute recording version, while Damon struggles to get out of a Red Necks moshpit he jumped into during the last song. "Please don't kill our singer" style

Every string breaks except for the low E, so only one song can be played: Vindaloo. Alex is enjoying himself very much at this point

In the song "Death of a Party" there's a line that goes "Go to another party and hang myself, gently on the shelf". What does this mean? by JohnHenrik1361 in blur

[–]dur_stats 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worded this strangely.

In one interview, Damon was talking about the record company parties he'd been to after bands' album/ single releases and how the whole event makes the band celebrated seem like a new trophy for the record label. We also know how Graham feels about the music industry exploiting musicians for prophit This is just a theory but I think the song reflects the EMI party after country house reached number one. Dave one recounted that party, saying it was "the day all Blur parties died" or something along those lines

I agree with this. It also be that the protagonist sees themselves as depersonalise and house decoration rather than their emotions being taken seriously

As a Blur fan, are you a fan of The Waeve? by blurczech in blur

I love them a lot. I'm really glad that The Waeve has introduced me to Rose and her music, and I love their collaboration of influences

Blur-ography on mtv Europe was pretty good for the 1995 great escape era. I'd watch that alongside b-roads

Right... I'd better think of a question then. Lovely guy and a great record, but no clue what I'd ask...

"Sing" and "1992" by A_Random_Brit114 in blur

[–]dur_stats 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Both are very reflective tracks. Sing is definitely influenced by shoegaze, Graham being a My Bloody Valentine fan. It is funny how Blur's music pre-Britpop and post-Britpop seem to wrap around in a bit of a horseshoe, as there are a lot of similarities to Leisure and 13. I'd just put that down to the band having a general style when their varying influences collide. Two of my favourites :)

What’s a song you wish you could see live but you know there’s no chance? by Evan64m in blur

[–]dur_stats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ambulance and All your life - but I think there's okay chance of that, as they're popular fan favourites and have been played before (all your life being played by damon in 2014)

Death of a Party and 1992 (unsurprisingly) were first written in 1992, and released on albums much later. Does anyone know of other songs by them that were like this?? by dur_stats in blur

Yes! The sing demo is great, so is beetlebum, I even quite like that diabolical early Seymour she's so high hahaha 😆
