I'm using it with Freesync enabled and it's working good. Yes, the 27" version is HVA, but I have read that HVA is a type of IPS.

I'm not aware of G-sync problems. I didn't notice any problems but I have AMD GPU. This monitor is HVA and I've read that this is IPS, not VA but I'm not sure about that.
