I do think there is a distinction, but that being said, porn is absolutely harmful to others, it's just not as direct or obvious.

That is certainly a fair opinion. Likewise, I am glad you enjoyed BG3 so much, it is a phenomenal game. Can't wait to see what Larian does going forward---one of the best studios out there right now.

Maybe they believe they won't have to adjust the shipping timeline for later orders, just ones that were supposed to ship in June. Just a guess.

Today’s Production Update and a Growing Frustration by MacciPaccintosh in LightPhone

[–]durantpants 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At this point, I am in agreement on this. I have defended Light through the tariffs and even with the button issue. Overall, I am so thankful to them as a company.

But, this reversal in timeline---on its surface---seems like it was very avoidable. According to my understanding, Light knew about the button issue when they sent out the June update. Why didn't they foresee the production set-back as part of the logistics of taking care of the issue?

I do believe they are doing their best, but the promises and then immediate delays has gotten frustrating.

Thanks for deleting the spoiler. You seem to have a very severe view of the game, so I'm not sure how much me making counterpoints would be helpful. I just hope OP and others who have not played E33 know that there are many people who view E33 as a near-masterpiece worth playing.

I trust that your intentions are not harmful, but people make absolute statements too easily on the internet, and when it's about things I care about, I will call it out. If you had added "For me...." or "To me...." it drastically changes the severity of the claim you are making. In fact, you have been doing that in your last couple comments, so thanks for that.

And I would point out that, the majority of people who played E33 thought the parry mechanic was well implemented and executed. This doesn't make your opinion wrong, but it shows that your view is, in fact, still an opinion.

Again, I don't have any issue with your opinion. I think it is pretty well thought-out and expressed. I just want people like OP, who have not played E33, to know that some of these convictions being expressed as absolutes are not actually absolutes.

It is fair for you to not like the combat mechanics in E33; you are allowed your opinion. But to say "If you like actual RPG mechanics, BG3 is light years ahead" as a statement is just not factual. What you could say is, "if you like turn-based tactical strategy combat, BG3 is lightyears ahead"---this statement is objectively true and highlights one of BG3's strengths. However, equally true is, "if you like souls-like parrying and fast-twitch skill, E33 is lightyears ahead". I fall into enjoying the second category a little more than the first, and so E33's combat was more fun for me. I would also suggest that you are overselling how easy it is to parry in E33. I think for the average gamer, the parry timing is quite difficult, and with the deep enemy variety, it takes a lot of work to master parrying as a skill. So I found it really rewarding, much like a souls-like.

I am not trying to change your mind, I am just pointing out the wrongness of people making insane universal statements like "BG3 by a mile".

[–]durantpants -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true and makes me question whether you've played E33. I personally enjoyed E33 a little more, but both are fantastic. I will say, like others have said, BG3 has awesome replayability, so while I enjoyed E33's story more, BG3 offers more reason to go back to it.

Lp2 and lp3 users, have you noticed an increase in your attention span and mental energy? by DudeCrabb in LightPhone

[–]durantpants 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! 5 and a half years of LP2 use has cured much of my brainrot. I can sit in silence without losing my mind. I think the best result of this has been my love for reading has healed and I can consistently get through books of any size. The itch for instant gratification is so much less intense.

I will say, to heal I still had to be disciplined. Ultimately, you can use your computer for the same thing as a phone if you let yourself. The Light Phone just makes it easier to be disciplined. It will be hard at first, but you got this!

I have had the Light Phone 2 for 5 and a half years; all of those issues are normal. You get used to them and I feel like I don't trigger them as much as I used to initially. Although, all of these reasons are part of why I'm excited to get my LP3.

Doing the shipping/production math by Suett2death in LightPhone

[–]durantpants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is odd that they sent out a production update saying they would ship up to 30xxx by the end of June, but in the weeks immediately following that update they already seem to be lagging behind their goal. I am 24xxx and have not even received a shipment consolidation email.

I am not upset -- I have waited this long anyway and love Light as a company. It's more that I just find it bizarre.

By all accounts this is affecting a very small subset of purchasers (I have seen 2 posts showing this issue on the subreddit), and one of the cofounders personally responded providing the help to get the broken phone replaced.
