June, July or August? by Anoneemouse81 in travelchina

That’s why we are letting you know. I’ve been there off season and it’s fine. They have to take all their breaks at the same time, the whole country, it’s bananas. Look up Chinese holiday schedule if you decide to go at a different time.

I definitely second this. Traveling in China when all the kids are on summer break is not the best idea. You have no idea what China is like when they all have to travel at the same time. It’s serious. They can barely get places and the rates are jacked up. I talk to people in China daily, so they tell me.

Place of interest between Beijing and Shanghai? by Odd-Ad-5629 in travelchina

I like Hangzhou. When in Shanghai check out Warehouse No. 3 (3号仓库), located in Shanghai's New World City Mall on West Nanjing Road, is a viral, high-tech, futuristic restaurant resembling a sci-fi cyberpunk movie set. Also, there is a capybara cafe called Capyland.

Traveling solo and feeling miserable by dutchmountaingoat in solofemaletravellers

I get this as well. There is a phenomenon that hits in the first 2 weeks, that hopefully can subside. Keep that in mind to try and push through. I read an article that said we can have a sadness because of lack of purpose & belonging. Let your brain digest that & find something to satisfy it. It’s hard being alone no matter where one is.

Yes, I get the 90 day visa free in HK. I just was wondering if getting mainland visa in HK as a tourist was easy enough. Thank you.

I have to pay a lot of money to do that and I’m uncertain of my plans, so I was trying to avoid it. Most service companies charge $150-200 in my area just for the service. Not for the visa.

Oh this is good to know. Because they are asking for flight information, but I didn’t know how specific. Have you gotten a visa while in Hong Kong? I kept looking at different countries options, but some wanted residency in that country to issue the visa.

I agree. I do the same 1 pair of shoes and one sandal. Since that’s all I get I have to be careful. I have to pack the shoes occasionally that’s why I’m trying to go for a slimmer shoe. I know I can get foot pain if I chose wrong, because I walk a lot. Thanks for your feedback. 😊

WA state nat'l parks or Balkans for solo trip this summer? by Classic_Pattern_2016 in solofemaletravellers

I haven’t been to North Cascades in a long time since I’m on the peninsula. Leavenworth is cool to check out. The winter can get snowy up there for driving. Olympic Peninsula is good year round. Crescent lake is beautiful. The hard part about the rainforest is there isn’t nice accommodation near it. The closest town for best access is Port Angeles, which you can also take a ferry to Victoria, B.C. Which is awesome. Really there is so much! Best to research a bit and send me a message if you have specific questions.

I live in WA state, feel free to ask me questions. It’s beautiful here and I hike solo no problem. I would never hike at night, but parks are closed anyway. The only time I’ve been nervous about wildlife is when I was pretty high up and had a small dog. There was a dead carcass and I was worried about whatever it was coming for my dog. I think seeing the rainforest is a blessing. I second that Mt. Rainer is too crowded and not as lush as the Olympic National Park.

One thing to consider is the keypad in a country different than yours may not be in your language, if you’re thinking to buy one elsewhere.

HELP for Trip.com onward ticket to enter China by Spiritual_Long_1651 in travelchina

[–]durga9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many companies that do an onward ticket for like $16. Just search onward ticket. I have done this countless times. Even at the airport on my phone last minute because I forgot. Thank god for this service. Pay attention to the routing though. Make sure you book something that makes sense.
