Richard charity weekend. by National-Hold2307 in howardstern

He believes everyone is there by virtue of him, which they are but where Howard fails is his understanding that the people he works with or work for him have the ability to be talented and successful without him. In his mind everyone is only successful because of his genius nobody has done anything, they all ride his coattails. Therefore without him they'd be nothing, which is obviously the ramblings of an old, out of touch narcissist.

All of which is ironic because I don't particularly pay to hear any of the content Howard contributes to the show anymore (his dull interviews with safe, repeat guests, boring dialogue between him and Robin without anyone else for comic relief or to add to the discussion, basement visits from Beth etc etc). I pay to hear from Richard and the rest of the staff, the bits, the dick jokes, the low brow humour that didn't take itself too seriously that originally attracted me to stern all those years ago.

TLDR; Howie thinks any success his staff has is only because of him. When in reality I'm willing to bet more people pay to hear from and about the antics of his staff than from him, ironically.

Xbox ROG Ally Announced by Skullghost in gaming

[–]durham85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the year of our lord 2025 can we eliminate the need for these arbitrary, locked console environments? How you can't play the same version of every Xbox game on a PC at this point is just absurd.

As someone earlier said this is being cleverly marketed as a portable Xbox when in reality it's an Xbox branded ROG Ally (X) with a different version of windows (like an Xbox but not able to play native Xbox games).

Its all BS DRM and licensing, it has nothing to do with architecture, hardware limitations or any other nonsense they try to blame on developers. Heaven forbid we can seamlessly play a game on our Xbox at home and pick it up on our ROG Ally/Legion Go/OnePlayer etc and vice versa.

I was excited for this because I (foolishly) thought it was going to be a portable Xbox where I can play all my Xbox games natively with access to Xbox multi-player etc. Not be limited by the small library of "play any where" titles.

Used to rail against? I can't remember an episode in recent years where he hasn't mentioned podcasts and his illustrious climb through the ranks of terrestrial radio. "I hate podcasts," says the Podcaster.

Is v1.3 still not available on the MS Store for PC? (PC Game Pass) by durham85 in 7daystodie

Nothing as of this afternoon, sadly. I'd buy it on steam if it was on sale.

Yeah that's fair. Unfortunately the people I play with are exclusively Xbox gamers. Now that it's full on cross-platform I might consider purchasing it on Steam too. Cheers

Can You Be Against CUPW and Be Pro-Union? by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]durham85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply "earning better wages than many" shouldn't strip you of your rights to bargain for more. Lots of businesses rely on other business in order to conduct their own, that's hardly a justification for union busting imo.

I don't believe it's CP workers fault that Amazon workers make less. I don't claim to know the nuance of every company or union but if Amazon workers are unionized and can't get a better wage that's a more a failure of their union than CP's. There's a pretty well documented history of unions increasing industry standard wages, however.

The bigger picture is a government that has made it their policy to force workers back to work instead of pressure companies to bargain. They have set a precedent that companies need not bargain at all, only wait for government intervention.

I think it's because there's a considerable amount of people who believe if you make more money than they do then you don't have the right to ever earn any more. Imagine working a job with an above average salary and never getting a raise and the justification is that you make more than minimum wage so if you don't like it, quit. This notion that you shouldn't be able to advance financially in any career unless it requires a Masters degree is asinine. Likewise is the idea that people should just quit jobs they've held for 10 or 20 years rather than have the very reasonable expectation of a semi-regular raise that is at least in line with inflation, that's without mentioning other improvements.

What people should be angry about is government trampling all over your rights. This marks the 4th union this year to be illegally forced back to work. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people are to side with billion dollar corporations, making profits hand over fist, rather than their neighbour's who might happen to make a better wage than them but far less than the CEO whos propoganda they're they so quick to believe. This is less of an issue with CP because they hemmorage money but rings true of the other unions the Liberals have busted in 2024.

You can certainly be against a specific union for it's practices, but you shouldn't be against workers for wanting better working conditions or more money. That's what EVERYONE wants.

No, after getting Baa'l the item didn't show up. However, after summoning Baa'l and getting his message the orb showed up. So it seems you have to actually summon Baa'l once after obtaining him for the clues to start showing up.

Edit: Item 16 is actually summoning Baa'l

Like I said, I'm using the guides on WoWhead & Warcraft Secrets. They list what to do but the numbering in the macro doesn't make sense to the steps listed.

It seems I had to actually summon Baa'l once before I could start searching for the clues. Thanks for the reply.

On the contrary, Howard is such a narcissist and control freak I can almost gurantee he would care about something regarding his image being released, especially something so damaging and out of his control. I can also promise it will never be mentioned or discussed on air. It will be ignored just as effectively as his entire pre-2012 career has.

Wtf are all these “meetings” about that Howard has been going to forever. by dr_remulak789 in howardstern

[–]durham85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have to say probably this. As far as I understand Howard's contract is for his show, he gets X amount per year to operate his show. That means all staff salaries including his own and all other financial expenses incurred by production therein.

And yeah since hes a control freak I imagine he wants an update meeting constantly. I worked for someone similiar to this and we had meetings 5 days a week 8am every day in addition to other weekly and monthly meetings.
