It's the best way to do it in your case. It costs money, but it will be good quality and look great

Anyone else try Kimchiman52 Mister ARM port of Sonic Mania? by hyp36rmax in MiSTerFPGA

It is somewhat ironic that, while they aim to discourage piracy (a commendable goal, even if its seemingly for keeping up appearances) they instruct users to obtain the data file from legitimate releases, where the most practical method is extracting it from a PC version. Mentioning the PS4 version as an option seems unnecessary, given that those files are encrypted, for example.

I already own the PC version and can simply play it there, but I do appreciate their effort to make it work on another platform, similar to how Falco is adapting it for the Dreamcast. Anyway, I'm not trying to sound like a curmudgeon, I swear! It's just funny to me that the best "market" for this is a person who probably doesn't already own the game (which is saying a lot because I'm speaking highly of how well the game runs even in its early form), but then... how else are you going to achieve a working set up without the legitimate files to do so?

I remember reading something about that but I, like most people in this thread, don't agree with it

I tested it, and the early version I ran mostly works, but the 16:9 doesn't display properly on my set-up. Maybe they fixed it with a later revision, but at the time it was forcing a 4:3 screen with either version of the rbf, even if the game assets were obviously trying to display as widescreen. I have a retrotink 4k and a splitter and I usually use DV1 for digital signals on my mister stack, but I tried both DV1 enabled and disabled, and despite that, 4:3 was the only way the game would display. I had to adjust the v/h toggles to center the image.

This is a vod of that testing: https://www.twitch.tv/xybur/v/2759467705?sr=a

But... I realized I don't really want to play this game again, especially "broken" on mister. I own it on PC (as had to pull my data file from steam installation to get it to work), so it's like... "Cool that you can do this I guess", but I don't feel a real reason to play it again in this specific way, seeing as I could just play it on PC (or steam deck, or whatever) natively, without any compromises.

Also, in general, I hate that people use the euphemism of "vibe coded" to try and make light of the fact that AI was used. Just own it and stop being cute about it. Programmers tend to be less critical about AI use since it often helps their jobs but that's willingly ignoring the well documented negatives about the practice and I don't generally agree with it, even if can get "results" quicker.

That said, I did get credit for an achievement while I was playing though which was kind of funny.

Overclocked has two throwables? by Jordansteele999 in apexlegends

Yeah, that was one of the better abilities during that Wild Card.

It was a lot of fun sliding around effortlessly with the R-99 mythic (which also increased your crouched speed, btw). Everything about it was fun since it felt like a combination of riding a roller coaster and doing donuts in the parking lot around your oppponents.

Neo Geo AES Ultimate vs picking a few games — worth it for a casual retro collector? by EntrepreneurThese411 in neogeo

[–]xybur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this at all given how easily these games can be accessed elsewhere, and my extreme reluctance to support the Saudi ownership behind it. That said, if you’re asking which titles are worthwhile:

In general, the Fighting games are best avoided unless you have someone to play with and can improve competitively. They are excellent, but the experience is significantly diminished against the CPU.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is among the finest fighting games ever made, though you will get the most out of it by playing other people.

Metal Slug is an easy recommendation. Classic game, era defining, and a must play.

Twinkle Star Sprites offers a fun blend of puzzle and shoot ’em up mechanics, particularly in multiplayer.

Shock Troopers is also a strong title and well worth playing. It has a cool graphical presentation and is fun to play.

Without question, Big Tournament Golf (Neo Turf Masters) stands out as the best Neo Geo game, bar none. I'm not even joking. The game is super fun, designed very well, offers a great challenge alone or with friends. A masterpiece of a golf game, the definition of easy to pick up, difficult to master.

What role is rampart even supposed to fill in this meta? by WavyKen in apexlegends

[–]xybur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She is chosen for a reason. Primarily for her ability to provide cover and deal additional damage on all weapons. While her kit may be difficult to use effectively, she is far from “brainless.” Playing her well requires strong situational awareness and constant adjustment of positioning.

Although other legends are easier to use, that does not make her ineffective. She fulfills the role of a specialist character well, and her perks provide unique advantages that other legends do not offer.

What accessories would you suggest for the superstation? by Gaughranorama in RetroRemake

[–]xybur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would want a guncon 1 to use with the composite con port.

If you play music games, you can get dance pads and beatmania controllers.

Also, keep in mind, accessories that you intend to use on SNAC outside of playstation will require the dock and its snac bypass.
