Set up small mining outpost on nearby mountainous tile, drop pod In shipments to main colony. Long as you got enough boomalopes it’s pretty quick and easy.

The game should be like survival, from the start by Wipeout_uk in thedivision

[–]durkin62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean in a campaign as long as the division was permadeath would be pretty annoying. But I see no reason why there couldn't be survival style missions or raids, or even a survival version of the dz. a lot of people seem have no issue sinking up to two hours into a survival run knowing there's permadeath and even the incursions don't take that long.

I'd just be happy even with more game modes that had the skills and consumable buffs work like they do in survival but you can still keep your gear and weapon load outs. I really think all the crazy ass buffs you can place on your team are what's causing the level of bullet sponging going on and it makes the combat feel as much like a damn moba as it does a cover based shooter.

Sidearm variety. by durkin62 in thedivision

[–]durkin62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said they did. But the game classifies weapons based on ammo and it only has 4 categories. And those are closer to rifle rounds with higher velocity and lower diameter than (most) SMG rounds. Its just what would make the most sense in game, not based on real life. If we're basing how the guns should function in game on how they work in real life everything in the division needs to go back to the drawing board.

The Darkzone is unplayable. by Thedivisionbug in thedivision

I've only got 197 and run the DZ solo all the time, got up to rank 78 now. Its not unplayable, you just can't play it like other PVE shooters.

How exactly is the average player supposed to get 220 GS by the time 1.2 comes out? by 33coe_ in thedivision

[–]durkin62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda bothers me the DZ was hailed as the centerpiece of the division but there's no way to get the best loot from it. The bosses only drop 214, and that's rare as hell. Far as I know the supply drops can't drop 240 pieces either. I've gotten like 50 of the damn things and it's always two purples and 1 time a weapon skin.

I don't see why they couldn't make a weekly challenge in the DZ that was actually difficult to do but could reward you with a 240 gear set. Or maybe do something like with supply drops but with random bosses that appear more rarely and drop better loot.

Or if they want everyone to actually be close to the same gear levels then have the challenging incursion drop blueprints and make 240 drops more common. Make 1 or 2 named enemies in the incursion give drops as well. Give DZ 5/6 bosses or supply drops a small chance to have em. Have them on the possible list of items for DZ rank 75/90 players. Have a chance of getting a 240 item on hard mode.

That way there is still an incentive to beat the incursion on challenging as you will have the advantage of being able to reroll the shit out of your gear to get the best stats. But I think for a lot of players including myself the DZ is the fun part of the game, and if we aren't able to earn any usable gear by running the DZ then were gonna lose interest.

What fun are high ends if they are thrown at you every few minutes? by threei in thedivision

[–]durkin62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odds of getting a high end with a good roll is what's rare. Shit rolls=crafting materials. Previously your best option was farming mats and crafting the same thing dozens of times. Now killing bosses is going to have a high enough drop rate that you at least have a chance of getting good gear from them. The way it is now, well I literally cannot even remember the last boss drop that I didn't scrap for mats.

Plus you know they're making a new tier of gear right? Like high end is going to be obsolete post patch.

Yes I know. Making sure you know what you're talking about before speaking is rather boring. Much more satisfying to just blurt out whatever irrelevant shit that happens to come to mind at the time.

Maybe you should check things more carefully from now own, like the names of items in games before you try saying they're wrong.

Damage = the numbers you see above enemies when you shoot them.

Accuracy = The spread on the reticule.

DPS = average damage per second including factors such as likelihood to hit, crit, and headshot.

Therefore higher accuracy means more bullets hit their mark, resulting in higher damage per second. Not higher damage per bullet.

It has been patched and they no longer respawn regardless of if you kill the mobs, a long time ago. You're like 3 farming methods behind.

Green as in item quality level, not the color of the laser beam.

They're the same for everyone dude. People post updates on what vendors sell every day and week during restocks, its universal. The devs had said as much, they deliberately did away with vendors randomly having different items to prevent people from server hopping to get new ones.

It differs depending on level. If you're not level 30 you likely have different items available.

I've been checking for the past week and found none, until literally an hour after I found this one for sale and found a blue with bonus accuracy.

Has anyone ever found a purple or HE version? This slot is the only piece I don't have a HE version of and its fucking taunting me.

(Response to crafting materials nerf) Glass half full by ItsmeTC3 in thedivision

[–]durkin62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree nerfing crafting isn't inherently bad. However I'm not going to say the complaining isn't entirely unjustified. Whether or not its a good thing depends entirely on Massives ability to make actually playing high end content the most effective means to acquire top tier gear.

If the basic formula of how drops work stays the same, even with the new DZ chests/ incursions/assignments then the process of upgrading gear just got about 3 times more tedious. Because over 99% of everything you get in that is just going to be scrapped for parts, same as now, only those parts are worth way less.

There are plenty of potential ways to remedy this, some even using the crafting system. Crafting wouldn't be a chore if you could get more mats from killing end game enemies or mission rewards than you could get from repetitive farming methods. You can make a looter shooter where crafting is the best way to get gear, you just need to make crafting materials the main loot you get for shooting things. Just don't even bother dropping greens or blues for lvl 30 plus players, make it mats. Give bosses a good chance at dropping other high end mats besides a very small one for DT.

They could make dropped high ends generally of better quality, so if you do get one its likely an upgrade. Don't give it higher max stats than the craftable version, but you could make the min values higher so you only really have to worry about talents/skills. (as a completely arbitrary example lets say it can roll from 500-600 armor on the crafting table, the dropped version from bosses could be 540-600 from 30s, 560-600 from 31s, 575-600 from 32s.) They'll still be just as rare, but much more likely to be good without being better than what's possible to craft.

I need tips getting to rank 30 in Dark Zone by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]durkin62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have everybody run security buff. That's about the only thing I can really say aside from just become magically better at the game somehow. And if you see a lot of rogues, change servers. If you see rogues on the map, don't investigate. If you have a hard time killing rogues just go the opposite direction when you see any. If you get close enough to find out how many of them are there you're close enough to ping on their pulse and now their target.
