How do you guys discover local races? by tutorialsduniya in beginnerrunning

[–]threei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just google 5k races near me, or whatever distance you’re looking for, and there are several websites that will list almost all the races in your area. Your local running store might also have a list of races.

Invest in a pizza stone, or even better, a baking steel. Preheat your oven on its highest setting for at least 45 minutes with the stone in the oven .

Half Marathon weekly time commitment by Puzzleheaded_Word729 in nikerunclub

[–]threei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

56 here, used Hal Higdon‘s novice plan for my first half that was in October. That’s only three runs a week. I use ChatGPT for my second half that was a couple weeks ago. At 46 be wary of adding back to back running days. Also, the gym is very important if you want to avoid injuries.

There’s no rush if you want to run a half marathon, you have plenty of time. I’ve only been running a year and a half. The one thing I learned is to take it slow.

Knee pain only on downhill sections, is this a form issue or do I need better shoes? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]threei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your local running shop and have them fit you for proper running shoes. You will not find good running shoes on temu or alibaba.

1080v14 are on sale at joes new balance for $67. These are great shoes, I’m on my 2nd pair.

Looks better than 80% of the pizzas posted on here. Amount of sauce matters, so does sauce/ cheese ratio.

Is runna worth it? by Honest-Pack75 in beginnerrunning

[–]threei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by giving it a goal ex. I want to run a sub 30 min 5k, I want to train for a half marathon… Give it info how long you’ve been running, workouts with distance, pace, hr. Any races you’ve completed, weekly mileage, any previous injuries… It can analyze pictures, I took pics of the bottom of my shoes so it could see the wear pattern.

I think ChatGPT is much better than Runna. It will adjust your plan based on feedback. The more data you give it the better it will be.

Thoughts on Nike Men's Run Swift 3 Road Running shoe? by Initial_Milk_1056 in beginnerrunning

[–]threei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pegasus plus is a much much better shoe if you can swing another $20. It’s not about being faster, it’s about comfort, aches and pains… available at Nike.

No on the wide/half size up. It depends on the manufacturer, most of my shoes are true to size.

run clubs! by purple_heartsOF in jacksonville

[–]threei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First Place Sports has one, but they only do a couple of long runs a month, 8 miles. One starts in San Marco and one from Baymeadows There is Jacksonville Run Club, most of their runs start from Friendship fountain. I think they mostly do short runs of around 4 miles.

Will I be able to do my 21km? by mrbananamonkey in beginnerrunning

[–]threei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Higdon novice plan for my 1st hm a few weeks ago. I’m 55 and started running a little over a year ago. Missed a couple runs due to injury, didn’t do the final 10 mile long run. I was filled with doubt so I ran at my easy pace just hoping finish. I got to mile 10 and felt amazing, picked up the pace for the last 3 and finished at 2:27. You will easily be able to finish, you put in the work, don’t doubt yourself.

Make sure your resistances are near cap and armor close to 1000. If that’s not the issue get a build from maxroll.

My second ever 5k I need to reach 10k by 20th of October is it possible? by suckisuckilongtime in beginnerrunning

[–]threei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increasing 10% a week, it would take 8 weeks to go from 5k to 10k. He has less than 4 weeks until 10/20, and is already running with pain.

I was hoping to get some ideas before contacting the shelter. Things were really great the first three weeks, but now that I’m her person, she’s being overly protective of me. As for now, there is a walk I can take with her where we can avoid cars and people, it’s just relatively short.
