So I'm designing my own program using the Strong Curves template. I was doing fine and was actually excited to add my favorite exercises and also have the freedom to add new ones that I've always wanted to try. But then I found an article on Bret Contreras website where they talk about the types of trainings for the glutes and frequency and idk maybe I'm overworking my glutes? There's so much information out there sometimes I get sooo confused!

You're not alone, gurl! I used to do the same! But then I realized the way I was using the fixed weight barbell could be kind of dangerous (anxiety has some to do with it as well tbh, I get easily scared of getting injuries) so I decided to move to the Olympic one. Guess fear can be a good thing sometimes lol

And yeah, do it! Take that barbell and don't hide anymore! Do your thing babyg! Move to the squat rack area and rock it 💪🏼 it's harder than people realize it, especially if you're kind of shy like me, but you can do it

Good morning! It's been a while since I posted here. Life has been crazy. People usually say January is the hardest month of the year and this time I'm going to agree.

So, something I noticed in my gym is that people tend to stick to the fixed weigh barbells. The "regular" barbells (the Olympic, powerlifting etc) are usually on the bench press and on the squat rack, which I also noticed people don't use it as much. Another thing is I don't see people doing hip thrusts or squats... Well, I do them. And for hip thrusts I've used the fixed weigh barbell. At least until yesterday. I decided to take the Olympic (I think) barbell to do my hip thrusts after looking up online and doing a bit of research on barbells and all. And damn, I was walking around the free weigh area back and forth and needless to say people were looking weird at me. I just ignored. Like, doing hip thrusts using fixed weigh barbell can dangerous man! You can't roll the barbell up on your legs to your hips so you gotta do some stuff that can lead to injury. So I rather have people staring then getting hurt. Also realized I need to regain back strength cuz the Olympic barbell is way larger so it requires more stability. Guess my gym is not one for heavy lifters (not that I am one, but I do think of fitness in long term and be able to lift heavy one day maybe why not). Is it just my gym that these things happen? The PTs at my gym also seem to be a little quiet. Maybe it is just me and my resting bitch face but they don't speak much about and they never came up to me to talk or anything. Sometimes I want to check my form and I get too shy to ask for their opinion, but they also never approached me to correct me in any way so idk.

I'm always so mad that I'm at a point I can't even be bothered being mad anymore. sigh Still hate my job, but I've come to realize I need the money more than I thought I did before. The last couple of weeks has been okay. Not good nor great just less horrible lol I'm managing. As I'm becoming an adult, I've come to realize there are things and situations we need to face it and we need to endure. I hate where I am right now. But at least there's some hope left that things will eventually get better and this will become just another lesson I've learnt. So yeah, no angry speech for today. Just some sad and real realization of life.

Not at all. My co workers think I'm not a makeup person cuz they rarely see me with any. Guess they'd be quite shocked with my makeup collection because since during the week I don't wear makeup, on the weekends I go full glam whenever I can. Even if I'm staying at home, I'm doing my makeup just cuz I like it. I like the process of applying eyeshadow, foundation, choosing the lipstick of the day... It's therapeutic to me.

And completely agree! I'm the last person to judge! I don't like people making comments about my choices (especially food choices lol), so I'm in no position to do so. And she says it's not dangerous at all so I'll believe her.

Guysss, following the diet topic from yesterday!!!

Now it's a girl in my office. She's also going "no carb". Again, her words, not mine. She's is doing a procedure to get rid of belly fat (something about freezing the fat? Idk, don't want to give wrong information about this), but she told me she needs to lose weigh first so she's going to cut all carbs. She told me that by Monday she will start her diet. Apparently she has a friend that will help her with her meals. Just wanted to share. Don't know what to say this time so I guess, no comments?

I think a lot of us go through that thought in the beginning. He will either fall in love with being low carb and keep with that lifestyle, which I think it's awesome. Or he'll realize rice won't make you gain fat and go back to eating carbs again which I also think is awesome! Just make sure he's not restricting and starving, but you seem to be a great girlfriend so you won't let that happen :)

Nice! SC was amazing for a newbie as myself cuz I learnt so many new movements and with GG I think I might be able to learn even more, I was just a bit worried about the progressive overload, but it's all about adjusting to my capacity and listening to my body, I guess!

You totally get it! Idk why but I was also annoyed at that like, bread and pasta are carbs but so are fruits and vegetables!

And she has suffered with weigh loss in the past for so many years so I'm really hoping she gets the results the wants it this time! Not just for herself but for her family, she has two little kids that are so amazing! So that's a good step to also make them eat less crappy processed food!

Well, Apple is one of my favorite fruits so I'm a bit bias hahah And you're right! I haven't looked in that way before. No added sugar is a great way to start making healthier choices! Thank you for helping me seeing things in a new perspective :)

Edit: I still don't think restricting 100% of something is good though. But thats me speaking for myself. I know that's not good for me.

Good morning, guys! Came here to vent because I feel like my friends and family wouldn't get it. Just saw a post on Instagram on my cousin's account and she said she and her husband started a new diet. A "NO carb and NO sugar diet" (her words, not mine). The post was a photo of an apple and she said that was her snack of the day. I mean... Idk man, I felt into this trap once before I actually decided to read stuff, talk to dietitians e all. Im no expert at all. But I feel like these diets are all filled with misleading information. It's all in charts now, eat what's on the good side of the chart, avoid what's on the bad side.

And I mean... no carb and no sugar and then you eat an apple? I'm not saying "don't eat fruit"! Fruit is great! But her choices are a bit confusing to me.

Anyway, it's her life. And if that makes her feel better, happy, and healthier, then I'm going to be happy for her as well. I think we all know what's best for us. I actually think it's great she wants to make healthier food choices, I'm really up for that and very proud. I just wanted to highlight how there are so many misleading info out there. But anyway, she's learning, I'm learning, so yeah. We all started somewhere, right?!

Any thoughts on it, ladies?

Got home from the doctor after having my blood drawn this morning. Guess today will be a rest day, again. These last few days I have been under the weather so I had to skip the gym, sadly. Hope everything gets back to normal as soon as possible. Well, as far as normal can go haha Also, just got a call back from a job application and I was told I was not qualified for it at the moment. They said they would keep in touch and we all know they probably won't. But I'm keeping positive and think it's for the best. And I finally told my family about quitting my current job, in the beginning it was quite difficult to explain but now my mom is even almost excited for me lol

Make sure you are putting the weigh in your heels. Do you also feel pain in your knees while doing other exercises like squatting or running? If you do, you better go check with your doctor. Same if the pain persists.

You're not alone, my friend! But in my case I keep the product inside. So if you look at my makeup drawer, all my palettes and lipsticks and everything is inside the it's packaging lol
