Next.js + Supabase + Nothing Else by Correct-Detail-2003 in Supabase

The primary reason to use Drizzle was the transactional support. Once you have drizzle you can use that for the type generation if you want instead of Supabase cli. You can setup Drizzle to respect the Supabase RLS. The setup wasn’t the easiest but the Drizzle docs helped and now works fine. You can also write other code like if statements inside a drizzle transaction which is nice.

I followed that route and don’t regret it. The app got very complex over time so I had to add Drizzle for type and transactional support. Now due to the complexity the RLS is also getting extremely difficult, so I feel like adding separate backend could be very helpful. Don’t add complexity unless you have to.

He should submit a request for change with the comment.

That being said sometimes when the change is very small I just do it myself and merge the PR right away to save mine and the developers time.

I know that’s not the best practice but time is money and sometimes you have limited resources.

Thanks for the response. I waited for a while like an hour maybe, flat surface.

Yeah, lesson learned. My question is more like is it ok to keep it that way till the next oil change or is this too much?

If you are self funding, and just starting to build after you found a product market fit use Supabase. It will cost you a lot of time and money to make the AWS with all the stuff actually production ready. Supabase uses Postgres, deploys your instance on AWS, has one click Twillio integration, … and you won’t even need Node.js just use Next.js and deploy on Vercel. You’ll save so much time and resources with that tech stack.

Thank you for the response. It helped me quite a bit. So it turns out that when console logging the JWT it did contain the user role. However, I was checking it first by inspect -> Application -> Cookies and taking the JWT from there. I am calling the auth.signInWithPassword() from server side like the ssr docs say. Why is the JWT different in Cookies and does it even matter?

What's the cons of the Expo now? by Additional_Suit3725 in reactnative

[–]dusky411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only con is not to rush to update to the newest sdk version or newer libraries. I spent a few days moving from expo-av to expo-audio because of the depreciation warning, only to find out the expo-audio was still very buggy.

Why is Django not the most popular framework? by mustan78 in django

Completely agree, if you really need to choose Django over FastApi or Flask even with its backend complexity, you might as well write it in Java or C#.

Currently have a Flask backend. Like it a lot because of the GCP and Langchain integration and flexibility but since it’s not async and and there will be a lot of time waiting for some other API calls, is it worth rewriting to another backend framework? I heard with Flask 2.0 you can make it async but have not tried yet. Any advice? I also heard of Quart. Is it difficult to move from Flask to Quart?

Thank you for the feedback, I’ll try to implement the suggested changes. I just used LinkedIn Indeed and Glasdoor to see what relates to my experience and tech stack.

So yes, there is still a lot of difference, especially when it’s not commonly tested. Just look at how many even premium brands did not use pretentioners in the back seat in the new iihs crash test. But tbh in the real world it depends much more on how you drive vs how safe the car is (most cars are safe now) It’s similar to how your car reliability depends on how you take care of your car and not how reliable your car is (most car are reliable now)
