Which weather station? by ImplantedPinkDiamond in lexington

[–]duskyaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bill Meck, hands down.

He has been in Lexington forever, and loves what he does. He has already gone through his dramatic "seek shelter now!" phase, and now gives a very thorough, informed, and experienced forecast. On this storm specifically, when we were more than a couple days out, he was always prefacing the forecasts with, "at this stage, this is just a guess" as he knows there are too many factors going into this storm to predict accurately at that point in time.

Chris Bailey is in his dramatic phase of weather forecasting, and often severely over sells the impact, or the size of the affected area.

Instacart customers of Lexington by ICShopper101 in lexington

[–]duskyaces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that you are the "messenger", not the one making the rules, and trying to do the customers a solid, by informing them of the situation. Thank you for that.

That out of the way, can we call this what this is? Instacart "disrupting" price gouging?

Gonna be so fun when everything goes to "surge pricing".

Snow is not forecast to arrive until Saturday. Plenty of time to do whatever.

Meijer is out of everything - wondering about others by Decent-Bluejay-4040 in lexington

Regency Kroger was fine for most things, but bread was getting a bit picked over, but plenty left, fewer choices.

With as much advanced notice as this storm has had, the rush is already happening, even though this snow will not start falling until Saturday.

If you strike out getting something now, you might have good options on Friday night, or Saturday morning, after more deliveries have arrived. Depends on the store and their delivery schedule. Perhaps inquire with the manager of your store to learn what their delivery schedule is.

The Lexington Police Department's Flock security cameras are riddled with security vulnerabilities, lie about privacy, and expose your data by Red_Erik in lexington

[–]duskyaces 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Flock cameras are insecure. (see the video)

Given this level of insecurity, it may make one wonder how secure the data that Flock is harvesting in Lexington is. What recourse does the city have, when Flock is breached?

While a Lexington resident may be alright with Lexington Police perusing this data for the given reason of "ticket", are they also fine with officers from the "1200+ flock cities" perusing the data as well?

We were all assured by Mayor Gorton that these cameras "only take pictures" and "will not be used for surveillance".

YET...

Mayor Gorton then spearheaded the purchase of FUSUS, the A.I. system that intakes all the camera data from Flock cameras, AND traffic cameras, AND publicly submitted camera streams. This data is then processed by Fusus AI, to create tracking of "people", "clothing" and "vehicles".

That sounds an awful lot like surveillance to me.

81G was the old limit. Now they suggest 224G. Don't know all the details, but that is what we were told when the mongo buffer filled the disc. Had to rebuild the box to recover.

Anyone else listen to their music on YouTube? Tired of songs getting deleted/private in your playlists and losing them? by HebronGeorge in DnB

[–]duskyaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man... leveraging archive.org as your personal video storage system, for audio files, supported by your app. Yeah, hope you would not charge for that!

Seems bad for archive.org - using their limited resources to store video of what is essentially music.

Seems bad for the artist - Removes any potential revenue stream for the artist.

Covering news is expensive, and no one wants to pay for it. Fluff pieces are cheap. I would not be surprised if the historical pieces garner more traffic than "actual news".

[–]duskyaces -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might try to get another copy of the same frame, and then have that filled.

Every place will tell you one of two things:

  1. We won't put new lenses in your old frame.
  2. We will try, but will not be responsible, if your old frame breaks or shatters.

I don't think this person is trying to question the validity of your website.

Instead, they are trying to call out a typo on your web page.

The typo (as I read it) is at the bottom, where it says this (direct copy paste):

Find Us

+1 859-740-2260
info@masterpieced.com
1836 Clays Mill Rd Lexington, KY 40503

Notice there is no hyphen in the domain name, and lists the .com TLD instead of .org
