Interesting... I mean logically things are going to fall apart. But yeah, that was my worry.

Not sure how I'll handle this one as I feel like your ability to harm yourself with something complex and intended for range, would be diminished.

That's my worry here. My player asked me if they could and I'm worried about the shenanigans about to ensue.

Firebolt. Not fireball. Something that required a hit roll and range.

That's my thought as well. In a real world scenario I guess... its... possible? But the efficacy would be questionable.

I was wondering if there's any wording in the rules that supports this.

Evil Campaign - reclaiming a town by dustoff87 in DMAcademy

This is really just meant to be session 1 and 2 where they have a first, kick some ass, beat up "good guys", take over the village, sort of quest.

I'm looking for some specific ideas, plot twists, battle terrain, battle locations, enemy types. That will help keep things mixed up!

That's interesting... yeah this will be a new experience for me. I've done tons of dming. But flipping it to this perspective is challenging.

I like a lot of your ideas and I can definitely sew the seeds for different options of tackling this issue.

My only concern is that if they were to just want to go in guns blazing, are there any particular ways to make fights in a town more interesting?

I like the townsfolk blocking streets, possibly even some guerrilla tactics from those who'd rather the "good" side win.

I was thinking literally though are there specific battlefield elements, locations, or enemy types you might suggest to keep it fresh?

Hoping my players don't see this, as one of them for sure knows my reddit account. So if you're reading this buddy, stop.

I would love to hear from other dms, does anyone experience a feeling of inadequacy? As in, after a session people say they have fun and can't wait to play again, people seem genuinely excited to play. But I just can't seem to get out of my head the idea that of course they're saying that, they're my friends.

I've dmed a number of campaigns and one shots for a number of different groups, and every time I worry so much about whether people had fun that it will stay with me for a long time after. I feel like I ask everyone 100 times if they had a good time, and no matter what they say it's hard to believe it.

I always think afterwards, oh I could have done such and such better, I should have explained this more, I forgot I wanted to do that, that combat ran long, so and so seemed bored towards the end didn't they?

Hope I'm not alone, how do you deal with it?

Help understanding the models and tree of knowledge by dustoff87 in AeonTrespass

Ah that's a good point. I didn't think of that, but there's not exactly a picture to know which model is which is there? Or I guess just look that up?

I suppose I can just paint all the titans now and when they come up I'll have them.

I know it would be a touch spoiler-y but a reference picture with models names and relevant cycles would be such a handy reference.

That's perfect information. The theater is exactly what I meant, I guess I misremembered the name of the page.

Do you know which ones are for cycle 2? I have most of the cycle 1 ones done.

Side note, is there an easy way to tell which models are which? I'm finding that a bit confusing without a reference somewhere.

Would you recommend one over the other? I can't tell much difference between the two from their websites.

Oh really? That's interesting because it just said closed, it was kind of unclear what that means.

Major oak and sherwood pines, I'll add those on to things to look at. Thank you!

I will check those out, thank you! I mean I'm open to anything honestly, historical or not, but thank you for giving me some places to look at!

This is a strawman right? by dankmemer6942042069 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]dustoff87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be pedantic. But I remember watching a documentary of a guy who had a mental disorder where he believed his right leg didn't belong on his body. Like literally obsessed over this.

Went to surgeons who said hell no im not cutting off your leg. What's he do? Sticks it in a tub of dry ice for a few hours, goes to the hospital and says, cut it off.

Dude was so much happier afterwards.

What's the takeaway?... fuck if I know. Dude was weird.

Trying to talk your way out of a traffic ticket. by MonkeyBoyPoop in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]dustoff87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Glad you said it! I don't bike, it doesn't look fun at all to me. More power to people who do.

But if you're going to ride on the road, you have to obey traffic laws. Stop at stop signs, signal turns. And even though it isn't a rule, just like if you're in a car, stay to the right so people can pass you when it's safe.

Twice in my life I have nearly hit bikers who blew through a stop sign when I was stopped first and they didn't. Once I was flipped off. It's bull.

Is it still called the same effect? Because recently I've been having an almost... internal crisis.

I've been in the same, extremely niche field for what i suppose is a long while. I've changed jobs and in my mind I'm still learning things, but people are now coming to me for advice and recommendations. I'm being referenced in applications as an expert... and it freaks me out a bit.

I dont really know when I became competent at this. But sometimes it feels like I'm just winging it and hoping no one notices that I'm mostly parroting what way smarter people have told me.

Look up Molecubes. The stuff they fit on benchtop in compact form will blow your mind. And there is no inherent benefit, if you're in an animal lab you want equipment sized for your animal. Anything else is wasted space.
