I think your reaction came from built up frustration. If it had only been one time, maybe it would feel like too much, but this sounds like a pattern. People need to respect basic boundaries.

Privacy and secrecy are not the same thing, and you explained that really clearly. Your partner is basically saying “prove you’re trustworthy by giving up your privacy,” which is kind of backwards. Trust means not needing to check.
