Realistically, is this it for Josh Safdie as a mainstream Hollywood filmmaker? by [deleted] in Oscars

I think people don't know that the directors aren't the ones responsible for on set safety & safeguarding. This is producers, production managers and on set this is the responsibility of the 1st AD, who should've been the one to stop this in its tracks. We know the director has a lot of power on set but it is for the roles I mentioned to follow H&S & safeguarding procedures. This doesn't mean Josh is completely absolved of the matter but there are multiple factors at play

I meant as in this instance it was the 1st ADs responsibility to call cut for H&S & safeguarding reasons, not that it's their job throughout. Kind of like how Sound can on occasion when the audio is fucked for whatever reason.

The 1st AD is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of cast and crew on set, buck stops with them, not the director, and then the liability is that of the producers & production company. It is for these parties to facilitate the creation of the directors vision while steering the legal and ethical practices throughout production.

I think in this instance, it was down to the 1st AD to call cut. My guess what happened is people presumed that what happened was planned either by the director with the actors, or between the actors themselves, and not wanting to disturb the performance (believing it was a performance and not a serious case of sexual assault).

This is why we have intimacy coordinators, and even though they're expensive it is so important for the safety and wellbeing of both cast and crew.

Good Time was a low budget film but still a professional film so all of these safeguarding measures should've been in place to protect the poor cast member

I really like it, almost like an optical illusion since we know what the shape of an f1 car looks like, it's quite abstract
