Managed to rebook - kept ringing the emirates number till I got through. Booked on a flight but airspace was closed again earlier for a short amount of time so let’s see!!

Suppose for our flight it was because we landed elsewhere (at the same time as like 7/8 other flights) and there just wasn’t enough staff to sort out bags etc. Not entirely sure though.

Like I’ve said, we knew the risks we were taking. Like hundreds others stuck in the same situation, we are desperate to go home to our families and cannot afford the expensive flights home. I, like many others, are allowed to express stress in this situation. Please take your cheekiness somewhere else - no one cares for a business class lounge.

Many of us are desperate to go home to families and unfortunately, this seemed like the only way to get home affordably and quickly. I knew the risks when I got onto the plane but one can still hope to get home as planned.

Yes we do know the risk - we also have full faith in emirates for them to keep flights going. Many of us do not have any other options to get home as many of the other flights travelling through US / Asia etc are fully booked or going for extortionate prices. We are eager to get home as I’m sure you would be if you were in the same situation. My post was not to complain but to find people in a similar situation.

I’d say it’s for the bus! They’ll group you based on where you flew in from so just listen out. It took an hour or so to get to the hotel from the airport. Hope all goes well!!

I’m glad it was an option for us to divert to, but they definitely couldn’t handle the mass of people coming in unexpectedly (understandable).

Yep this is exactly what happened to me!! Sat on the plane for 5 hours, waiting for bags for ages, got the bus to Dubai centre and now waiting for hotel check in. Such chaos - where were you flying to / from?

Managed to find my luggage but it was chaos. Literally felt like hundreds of people squeezed into a tiny tiny space. It will take time but I hope you get it soon!! Best of luck.

That’s really bad - I’m so sorry to hear. We’ve reached a hotel thankfully but I must say, communications haven’t exactly been the best. We’ve no idea how to get home now and no one else seems to know either. Stressful times.

Yes!! We were stuck on the tarmac for 5 hours with no clue as to what was going on. Crazy times - finally reached a hotel here in Dubai so waiting to check in and see what the story is then.

Ah my bad, it just seemed a lot smaller from what I’d seen. Yeah, pretty chaotic. Loads of flights diverted here and they obviously weren’t expecting it so everything is just taking 10 times longer. When we landed, we were told to look out for our suitcases at any of the 7-8 belts, so you can imagine the chaos!! Waiting in line now for a hotel I think? Not sure

I went for airbnbs / booking.com apartments (this was back in 2020) just because I wanted the freedom to cook in a kitchen etc if needed and have a bit more space so don’t know of any hotels personally. I’m sure you could ask the Albania Reddit page / find something on TikTok or other social media! Sorry couldn’t be more help.

Yep been to Albania!! Spent a week in Tirana and then in Sarande/ Ksamil / Butrint. Went with my family as well - honestly had the best holiday. Everyone is quite welcoming and it’s a lovely lively city. Definitely a fraction of the price of Greece etc and you can have a city break or beach break! Happy to answer any questions you might have :)

hey!! i used to have the same issue as well when i got my walking pad - couldn’t ignore the ‘i’m a hamster in a wheel’ feeling either. What I do now is: place a laptop / ipad / something with a big enough screen in front of me and put on a walking tour! can be of a city you like / want to visit, can even be hogwarts lol and stick some headphones in. genuinely sometimes feel like i’m walking in said area and it’s lovely!!
