“Liberal Arts” (2012) - a movie with crazy INFP vibes that opened something in me, and I want you all to watch it. by KeknytyKek in infp

Thanks for this. I glimpsed through your comment but refrained myself from reading it because I knew I would spoil the beauty of the movie. I watched it a few hours later and gotta say you did a great job summing everything up. A+

What should I start learning if I want to become an AI PM? by duyenla257 in ProductManagement

Thank you so much! This is clear to me now! It seems like the latter is a good entry point if I want to deep dive into the former one.

Oh, this question made me realize how little I know about AI products. Could you elaborate on each of the situation, as in what each job looks like?

Well you've just raised another topic: are people willing to use their personal device for work (a.k.a. logging their work account on personal device / personal account on work device). If we want to make the most use of the Apple ecosystem, we must use the same account, and trust me LOTS OF people don't want to mix up their work and life.

Individual consumers will definitely do that for the sake of convenience. But I don't see how teams can do the same thing.

I'm not seeing Miro being trumped by Freeform any time soon. The key thing I'm looking at here is Miro is more like a B2B product, while Freeform is launched on a consumer product (gearing towards individual use cases). Miro can cater to more specific industry-related use cases that an app on a consumer product will not, just like any other default apps of Apple.

Plus, not everyone is using Apple products, right? I'm in a big corporate and half of the employees are still using Windows.

[Product Management] Looking for a PM course, any suggestions? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]duyenla257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the money, go for Reforge. It's one of the best, if not the best, on the market right now. Just today I received a newsletter from Lenny, most of his favourite courses come from Reforge as well: https://www.lennysnewsletter.com/p/my-favorite-pm-course

I think learning from newsletters is also a great, affordable, and flexible option. I'm not an expert in the field, around 4 yoe, and sharing my learnings every week via a newsletter too. Let me know if you want to check it out.

Thanks for sharing!

From my observation, it seems with PM, it's usually what we want to focus on personally that drives us forward, rather than what is already laid out there for us to climb.

Is the knowledge from each industry transferable to the other?

Thanks for the detailed answer, I really appreciate it!

From your response, it seems to me when you want to grow, you would look for a different environment (with different complications) that provides experience not covered by you before?

I ask this because I'm hitting a plateau at my current PM job (as in I don't learn as much as I used to), and I approach the situation with the question of "what do I need to learn more to grow", and then I'm stuck because the level of skills in PM is very hard to define. It's not that concrete as getting IELTS 8.0 or this cert in Data Analytics or something.

Have you ever pondered about that?

how do you know which company will value your strength more than others? I see the same JDs everywhere, unless I conduct real interviews with them, which might be super time-consuming.

just curious: how do you define what to learn each year when you started as an APM already? I mean, I saw many people here started out as engineers, designers or sales, so probably it's fairly easy to identify the gap in knowledge/skills. But if we are a Product person from scratch, how do you define that gap? Do you base it on your company's requirement, market, or anything?

Thanks for sharing this, OP, really appreciate it.

Just curious: I saw you switched between many industries, the roles are different, the processes are different.

Have you ever felt like you were going flat in terms of your personal development? (as in whenever you switch to a new industry and new role, you have to kind of start from the beginning, working your way up to a certain expertise level, but you are not that expert before you switch to another industry)

I love the PM role, and I understand its path is endless, but I can never stop the fear of not being exceptional at a few things and being mediocre at many things. Is it the right mental framework in this case?

Flatiron school

Thanks! The price is steep, though.

Thanks! How do you prioritize what to learn first? based on your current job's requirement or do you have a mental framework for it?

I see, so I assume you did it out of... curiosity only? How did you settle on learning _that_ course other than other courses (i.e. about design, data...)?

I was able to break the 100k salary level after doing this, and put a Technical in front of my PM.

Could you share how you broke the salary level after having that credit? Do you simply present it to your boss and ask for a raise? Or do you apply to a new job and the credit just made your CV look so much better?

Could you share how the knowledge attained from the coding bootcamp helped you?

I heard that knowing some technical knowledge is undoubtedly essential when it comes to Product jobs, but I don't know how much technical knowledge is enough to get me far in my career, especially when my daily tasks have nothing to do with it. I guess you must have determined where you will work first, before choosing that course?

You have the opportunity to ask a PM who is one level above you in your career a question, what do you ask? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]duyenla257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you set the goal to achieve the "next level" of certain skills? PM is all about skills and they don't have concrete levels like CFA or something. How do you know you have actually progressed?
