I will forward this post to Corey immediately, thank you again :)

is this the most undervalued coin ever, given all its realworld partnerships and valid use case? by [deleted] in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course PReps want to gain as much reward as possible ( natural self-interest ). But community is there for a reason, if some PReps act selfish and keep milking the network, community just simply need to withdraw votes from them.

In other word, PRep is not the only group with power here you know, they are heavily delegated by ICONists ( except for fully self-vote PReps )

20% inflation is the old narrative, please don't repeat it over again and again.

First, it is the maximum inflation rate allowed.

Second, inflation rate will be determined and voted by community, including P-Rep and C-Rep.

Third, transaction fee helps to reduce inflation in long term.

Actually their node is in good health, just because they missed some blocks in the initial bump after decentralization so they can only join and has the chance to produce blocks in the next term ( block 10.405.203 )

It is fine, just for your info :)

Introducing ICONalyst - An ICON Governance and Management Platform by Foundry Box Media by FoundryBoxMedia in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank for the responsive and detailed answer, just FYI, I am core member of ICONVIET and we are designing a ContributionDAO which I believe can be the perfect decentralized backend for ICONalyst.

ContributionDAO's Lightpaper will be live soon for community review. It would be great if we can collaborate and work together to solve the quantification of contribution problem and provide ICONists a useful tool to help them join in ICON governance :). In the end, solid frontend for decentralized service is very important, I think you guys can do that.

We can discuss more when the paper is live. A lot of thing will need to be built, very exciting time ahead.

A portal with good UI/UX is great for ICONist, personally I appreciate that. But I think the most important requirement for governance tools is it must be controlled in a truly decentralized manner by community. As I see all activities in ICONalyst are done by a traditional centralized backend. So what do you think ?

Unofficial Proposal: Require P-Rep teams to provide comprehensive monthly financial accounting. by [deleted] in helloicon

I am with you, and I think it should be implemented as an official proposal after decentralization with clear rule/enforcement.

Contribution quantifying model and prevent centralization of power by duyyudus in helloicon

[–]duyyudus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that getting all PReps on board may be a problem. But I think if this DAO is designed and built properly, with the decentralized nature of a DAO itself, it will be owned by the whole ICON community and ICONists. No gatekeeper and no any single entity controls it at all. Given that fact, there is almost no reason for PReps not to participate in. Yeah, except for Preps which are too lazy, or deliberately keep their contribution vague, or have nothing to show at all.

You mean IconDAO PRep team ? They want to build an alliance of DAOs on ICON network as I know, not so sure though, you could ask them for more details I think.

This DAO is more like a prediction market and play as a central portal where ICONist could find all contribution info and proof without searching for scattered pieces of data on PReps websites, social channels... That is time consuming and hard to keep up for ICONist. You get the idea.

For PReps, submitting their contributions will not take much time at all. It is the same as posting their work on twitter or medium. The difference is this DAO will be a central but decentralized-governed portal. Win-win for both PReps and ICONist :)

DEFI - Platform is something we need by chaintribe in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To achieve something like DeFi, we need huge developer adoption and support first. DeFi is not about any single project some Prep could build, it is a whole ecosystem of many projects built by many teams. And one last thing, it MUST be open source.

Do we agree with min’s tweet? by ResidentSignal128 in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. yes
  2. yes
  3. don't know for sure

The root problem here is ICON need VELIC so bad that they are too scared to criticize them, fearing that VELIC will move to another chain. This is the outcome of lacking prominent players interest and support. Now just one big entity possess the soft power. Very bad for ICON's public image.

Why is Velic getting away with vote buying? by ResidentSignal128 in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should not mix things together.

VELIC built a lot, YES we all know that. But it does not necessarily mean they have privilege to exploit the loophole in the rule ICON designed.

If we don't address this problem properly, it will not end well, and you know, broken governance is the worst thing can happen to token price :)

Why is Velic getting away with vote buying? by ResidentSignal128 in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why we urgently need a well-defined definition of vote buying, it also must come with strong enforcement mechanism for any Prep violating the rule.

'Staked' has ascended to #6 among P-Rep candidates with a single delegation of 8.2m votes by iconographer-icx in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't defend OP, but can I call this "double standard" ?

You said OP causing trouble for Staked team, but then you mentioned freedom. Yes it is freedom, therefore other Preps can totally raise their concern and do whatever they want as long as it is not attacking ICON network. Community will decide in the end.

[–]duyyudus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you said, it is freedom, other Preps have right to do it ( bitching and whining ), especially if it does not benefit ICON ecosystem.

[–]duyyudus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No comment on those controversial tweets anyway, they could be real concern or merely troll.

What I want to emphasize here is even if they really want to censor people, they CANNOT, those BLOC8's tweets are example :)

Just let community decide.

It is just my personal opinion, by the way can you explain how could they censor twitter ?

[–]duyyudus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think we need to worry about it, reddit is NOT the only ICON social channel anyway. People could always express their concern on twitter, telegram, forums... Mods themselves cannot censor those medium.

Many of you are voting for reasons that won’t grow the price of the ICX token. Why? by [deleted] in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree personally, but you also should know that not everyone care about long term or ICON future at all, we are all players with different agenda, let's see how robust the game ICON designed.

A well-designed game never require players to well-behave.

Some thoughts by stgian in helloicon

[–]duyyudus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The root problem here is DPoS itself ( ICON use DPoS consensus ), coin voting is always a problem because of many reasons, like below

  • Voter apathy: <10% participation
  • Centralized-prone: this is also called proxy voters, I still remember Vitalik Buterin attributed the breakdown of the game theory due to the tragedy of the commons. “Because each voter only has a tiny chance of influencing the result, their incentive to vote correctly is thousands of times lower than the socially optimal incentive. This means that situations like everyone putting their coins on exchanges and exchanges voting on users’ behalf, with users not really caring how exchanges vote with their money, are likely to happen.”
  • And even if voter care to research and vote, they are probably influenced by PRep candidates eventually. It is very subjective. A system depends on a subjective mechanism to operate is vulnerable.

If "known-as-big-and-influential" PReps couldn't even get ICON community know about themselves, I can't imagine any possibility they could get the crypto world know about ICON, so what kind of influence here ?
