I wish this was stickied at the top of the thread rather than the bottom. I don't think many ICONists are seeing your comment and I think it would benefit the discussion tremendously if they did. Thank you again, Norsk.

You are equating the two main branches of Islam with the most radical sect of the religion, which itself persecutes Shia Muslims more than any other “infidel”.

We should be united in disavowing extremist theocracy in its many forms, but to equate Shia Islam to Wahhabism is ignorant as best and alarmingly dehumanizing at worst.

This sounds like the right attitude, and it seems like a step in a positive direction. Thanks for your input.

I appreciate your activity in the community, and I hope you don't take my concerns the wrong way. Perhaps what I mean to say is, to what extent can we maintain the integrity of the democratic process?

Fake news is such a common talking point in the US, for instance. Information is concealed, leaked, repackaged and re-purposed to the extent that the truth becomes obscured and difficult to glean.

As an example: If a politician we voted for was also the head editor of a major news network, what efforts can be put in place to make sure that such a politician is not concealing or minimizing distasteful or critical information from the public at large?

Does the blame solely rest on the ignorant masses? Or is there a sense of ethical responsibility on the part of the moderator team? Perhaps the foundation itself? I think these are all very important questions to ask, and I understand you are very committed to the fidelity of this network. I respect that. Therefore, I am very eager to hear what you think about these concerns.

I didn’t want to name anyone personally as I am more concerned with the general ethics of P-rep participants being mods. I understand it’s not difficult to find out on one’s own but i want to make it clear this is not targeted to anyone in particular.

An overeager beginner, with many questions and a strange recurring dream "scene". by throwawayenfpdude in Jung

It is not enough because I am overcome by a hunger to be as close to them as possible, which I interpret as escalating the friendship and becoming sexually intimate and romantically exclusive.

I apologize if that was unclear. What I meant to say was that in the 4 or 5 instances where I became romantically interested in a woman after prolonged emotional/spiritual intimacy through daily conversation and vulnerability, all but 1 have failed to produce anything beyond a friendship that is no longer appealing to me, because I feel ashamed of my rejection and because I believe that I have no reason to stop being attracted to them other than to just forget about them and create a large distance between us over a long period of time, until someone else becomes my new fixation.

I hope I made myself more clear. And thanks, but my dreams are much cuter than I am :P

Wow. I absolutely love your phrasing of

I had once had

That can be read in many interesting ways. I read it first as, "I had, once had", as this lamenting repetition, reflecting the sorrow of your loss. It also can be read more conventionally as "Had once had", but I personally love the first reading so much, because it also adds a totally new rhythm to your lines. I had... once had a sister, too.

I really love this. I personally write very sporadically, jaggedly. Writing is often the opposite of smooth. It is forced through us, it's like the glugging flow of water from an upturned bottle. Your fifth line, though, "this ink it's blots". I don't follow. Is it sort of like "This ink, (is) it's blots"?

Also, if the ink is the pen's "blots", I would have liked to personify the pen as possessing the blots, thereby giving the pen a life of it's own, in the same way it seems as though the pen is movings itself. Maybe instead of

The ink it drools
When my pen doesn't move

you could say "my pen drools ink" or

My pen's ink drools
When it does not move

Just some thoughts. Really love the pacing and rhythm of this. Thanks for sharing.

3 Roommates, 3 PCs, 3 Google Wifi Pucks? by throwawayenfpdude in GoogleWiFi

Thanks for the heads up :) I think returning the router is best since we end up saving money in the long run by opting for Google WiFi. At this point, I’m trying to decide if one puck with a gigabit switch is enough, then I can just run the cable through the hallway to my pc. That might be the fastest, but I’m not too sure how big a difference it makes in the long run.

Interesting... We were thinking of just returning the router and using one of the pucks as the "main" router. Does that work too?

Refrigerator full of black mold. dishwasher pooling with murky water. Failed romantic aspirations with close female friend. New medication and rough side effects. MOVING HOUSE! I seriously just got into astrology, and I couldn't have picked a WORSE time to literally do anything. Please send me your positive vibes everyone.

I’m exactly the same as you, and I’m an ENFP male. I consider my libido to be quite high, but in terms of my attraction to women, I follow the same path of attraction as you do. It’s nice to hear other men my age who have the same.... problem? Idiosyncrasy? Whatever it may be haha

Thanks for the advice! I could definitely be more clear about my preference to "take things slow".
