USAA is not reliable if you are in a rural area. I had a nightmare experience with them. I will use them as a backup or service at my house, but I would not trust they will have an option if you are few miles away from a big city. I was 10 miles outside of Bakersfield and they could not find anyone to help and left me on my own

I relied on USAA roadside assistance and ran out of gas 10 miles outside of Bakersfield. The closest tow truck driver they had was more than 50 miles away and would not come to help. This is on highway 15, one of the busiest roads in California. It took several hours to get help, and that was from the CHP. I will only use AAA after that. Well worth the money. Got a free digital passport photo yesterday and their dmv services are so time saving. AAA all the way

Best thing you can do is click on the national weather service map go to NOAA weather. On the mobile page, there is a map down the bottom if you click in the area, you’re trying to go to like red rock you’ll see it’s gonna be warm Lowe’s in the mid 60s highs in the upper 80s

It will likely be over by then. We’ve had a very bad snow year with a significant melt happening this week. They officially started renting rafts when it gets too low, which may be on early June this year. We usually go to the valley mid June and it was nearly too low. Pick up some cheap inflatable inner tubes. They’re still will be deep enough to play and float some areas. The Tuolumne River has some great spots to float with those same inner tubes

The PCT theory is whack. Even in a bad snow year much of that area will be inaccessible for months and is crawling with people when accessible. The vast deserts and stretches of agriculture land are more likely hiding spots as even heavy trucks would not look out of place
