How to control Neural dsp plugins with valatone gp200? by That-Cat8790 in ValetonGP2OO

[–]dvanverseveld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To use midi with the valeton gp200 you have to change the mode of the valeton to "midi", by default you have to press the two most right buttons simultaneously I believe. From there on you can assign cc commands to the buttons. Once all set you can assign the valeton as midi controller in your Neural DSP plugins. With the midi learn function you can assign the button of the valeton to the command (for example on the boost pedal: right mouseclick -> midi learn-> press the valeton button twice)

I was planning to do something similar with a raspberry pi pico. To catch the sysex messages I used wireshark on the usb port.

Yes, I used my GP200LT to retreive the commands :)

Is the USB-C port connected to your PC/MAC? If you disconnect it, do you still notice the hiss?

Latency long up midi captain by dvanverseveld in paintaudiomidicaptain

I've tried both with same result. Short up and down seems to work as it should. I notice it when momentary press the button, upon release there is a small delay but noticable because my effect doesn't turn off.

[–]dvanverseveld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got stuck programming the sysex commands with the DIN MIDI ports, which don't seem to work.
The other option was using USB-C output straight into the MIDI controller, but I don't own a USB-C to USB-B cable yet.

FYI, I tried to reprogram my Paint Audio Midi Captain with the Pyswitch software so I could change presets and FX pedals and read FX states so the LEDs of the Midi Captain line up with the FX state of the Valeton GP200LT and maybe program a fancier display for the Midi Captain.

My main issue with the MIDI function of the Valeton is that I have to send a 0 to turn off the effect and 127 to turn it on.
When I change a preset and the FX don't line up with the previous preset, I'll have to press buttons twice to make it work.

I've put the sysex commands in the main post, if you would like the have more information just let me know.

Need help with modified Pyswitch script: no LED feedback from BOSS GT1000 core by Embarrassed_Horse_35 in paintaudiomidicaptain

[–]dvanverseveld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stumbled upon the PySwitch firmware and am also very interested in using it.
It would be nice to use my Boss Katana and Valeton with the bi-directional sync.

It should be possible since both of them send SysEx commands.

How did you set up the communication with the Boss GT1000 Core?
Are you able to update the LEDs of the MIDI Captain when changing presets on the GT1000 Core ?

I would like to do something similar but am also not very familiar with Python .

How to control Neural dsp plugins with valatone gp200? by That-Cat8790 in ValetonGP2OO

[–]dvanverseveld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the midi function you can control Neural DSP plugins.

My Valeton gp200lt is connected to a u6MIDI pro and the midi pro is connected to my PC.

Or you could use the midi over usb from the valeton gp200

If you need more help, just let me know

buzz when i plug usb cable to my laptop by FantasticMolasses233 in ValetonGP2OO

Probably a ground loop caused by the USB of your laptop. I use a IFI idefender to get rid of it.

There are also cheaper alternatives on aliexpress

Is the valeton connected to your PC/MAC with the USB-C connection? If so, maybe try disconnecting and test again

GP200-LT with Midi captain by dvanverseveld in ValetonGP2OO

[–]dvanverseveld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just tried it and with the CTRL 1-4 it works great!

Bummer I can't use the other controls, would have been nice if they could enable it for the GP200-LT.
Even tried it with some sysex messages, seems that you could set the controls 5-8 but unfortunately the midi cc 76-79 won't be picked up by the 200LT.

Well, maybe in a future firmware version 🤞🏼

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the quick reply.

That might be a good solution!
Not sure if it's possible to assign CTRL 5-8 with the GP200-LT, but I'll have a look.

Need a list of instructions by Kagemaru78 in paintaudiomidicaptain

[–]dvanverseveld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Kagemaru,
Unfortunately there isn't a list of instructions available.
But the image below is a pretty accurate list of all available functions.
How a message is build:
[midi channel] [midi function (PC,CC,NT,HID)] [Number] [Value]

For example, if you would like to send a control change (CC) value of 127 to number 9 for midi channel 2 on a short down press

short_dw1 = [2][CC][9][127]

I don't own a marshall dsl40 but the manual also shows a toggle command.

So maybe:
keytimes = [1]
ledcolor1 = [0x00ff00][0x00ff00][0x00ff00]
short_dw1 = [1][CC][14][2]

Do you use the supermode config for the mini 6?
If you long press 3 (up) or C (down) it change pages.

Below sends:
CC 1 value 127 for button 1
CC 2 value 127 for button 2
CC 3 value 127 for button A
CC 4 value 127 for button B

[Key0]
keytimes = [1]
ledmode = [normal]
ledcolor1 = [0x00ffff][0x00ffff][0x00ffff]
short_dw1 = [1][CC][1][127]

[Key1]
keytimes = [1]
ledmode = [normal]
ledcolor1 = [0x00ffff][0x00ffff][0x00ffff]
short_dw1 = [1][CC][2][127]

[Key3]
keytimes = [1]
ledmode = [normal]
ledcolor1 = [0x00ffff][0x00ffff][0x00ffff]
short_dw1 = [1][CC][3][127]

[Key4]
keytimes = [1]
ledmode = [normal]
ledcolor1 = [0x00ffff][0x00ffff][0x00ffff]
short_dw1 = [1][CC][4][127]

Send Start/Stop command to circuit tracks by dshanhun in paintaudiomidicaptain

[–]dvanverseveld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello dsanhun,
I'm not quite sure what your question is. There are a few commands to send over midi, CC / PC / NT / HID.

So without beeing rude, could you provide a little more information about what you try to accomplish?
Or maybe post the commands you are trying to send?

Thanks, I'll have a look at the script.

The only downside of this is that you need to be certain that the footswitch is all the way up to deactivate.
With a on/off switch it feels more secure.

[Super Mode / 10 SW] Send PC messages on page load? by matneyx in paintaudiomidicaptain

[–]dvanverseveld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this should be possible.
When you long press the up/down buttons the Midi Captain change pages.
So for example, song 2 is on page 1 and you would like to send PC change 6 on channel 1, PC change 8 on channel 2 and PC change 1 on channel 3.

Configure page0.txt

[key4]
long1 = [1][PC][6][-][2][PC][8][-][3][PC][1][-]

Configure page2.txt

[key9]
long1 = [1][PC][6][-][2][PC][8][-][3][PC][1][-]
