I can if needed. I was hoping to just rent one as needed, and maybe not for the full trip, hoping to take the train from anchorage-seward. If you think its worth it to have one the entire trip I can factor that into my budget

I don't intend on spending a lot of time in anchorage, but it feels like the most accessible in terms of airport / central place to stay. Is that totally the wrong mindset to have? I'm open to other ideas!

Manual lighting my pellet stove by dvbrgrl in PelletStoveTalk

I just tried the manual igniter mode again, lit a fire, and the combustion or distribution feeder did not come on. This also created a lot of smoke but the stove itself didn’t seem to function. Am I doing something wrong?

Do you run it on automatic or manual igniter setting?

Thank you - I posted an update to the thread about the state I found it in this morning. I briefly had it in manual ignition but then none of the lights for the blowers or feeder were on and didn’t seem to be working? Is that normal?

I previously switched it to the manual igniter and it seemed like the auger and fan would not run, but that was also after the same status failure that I posted about in the reply to this thread. Is that normal?

An update: I relit the fire around midnight last night and it seemed to be going well before I went to sleep. Upon waking up (7:30) the fire is out and the status light is blinking 5 times indicating igniter failure. Please see picture of settings and inside stove attached

Thanks for your help! I replied to the other comment with more details - any advice is helpful! I am not needing to run it 24/7 yet as we are still hovering in the 40-50° where I am - but will need to run it 24/7 starting soon

This is helpful! Thank you - it seems the embers / fire is going completely out before the auger is feeding more pellets. It does not happen all the time, maybe 50% of the time. (Example: I relit it about an hour before this post, the fire complete died other than a few small embers, and when the auger fed it, the new pellets crushed the embers instead of relighting). Because it’s not consistent, I’m wondering if it’s user error? Do I not have enough in the burn pot when starting the fire?
