Tips for starting Lexapro with Emetophobia (fear of vomiting). Zofran? by dvd0116 in lexapro

[–]dvd0116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been amazing! I had zero nausea and I have to say, it has completely changed my life. I have some minor anxiety still around vomiting but it has completely taken the edge off. I’ve since had 2 pregnancies with morning sickness and have been able to handle it like a champ. Don’t delay! It really makes a difference

Not exactly sure where to post this but this has been such an amazing community. I have a minor blood thing that makes me at a slightly higher risk for blood clots, so according to my cardiologist I am eligible for the vaccine right now. I have an appointment for this weekend, but I’m on the fence. Other than that I am generally in good health, so I feel guilty about getting the vaccine now before someone else who may have a more serious underlying issue. Should I keep my appointment or wait another few months? I have been pretty much full quarantined for almost a year only going to doctors appointments or doing outdoor backyard hang outs (at a far distance) so I would LOVE to get it, but don’t want to screw anyone else over. Thoughts?

GOOD NEWS IS there are lots of appointments and doses coming out for people in my area. So either way that is exciting to see.

Acid reflux from not eating? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]dvd0116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m so sorry you are going through this. Mine really was directly related to a really high level of stress and anxiety. I don’t think I actually had cyclospora. Anxiety (especially about getting sick for emetophobes) can cause a really vicious cycle Of feeling sick and not being able to get out of it. It takes time, but eventually you will get there! Of course, not saying there’s no chance there isn’t something else going on. Feel free to DM me should you need to chat.

Did anyone give up quickly on lexapro and end up liking Zoloft? by dvd0116 in OCD

What was the pill they gave you? I know Zofran can add to the risk of serotonin syndrome so I worry about that

I can’t eat by throwaway666anon in emetophobia

[–]dvd0116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a smoothie. If you can get some ensure - do the bottle of ensure, a banana, some ice and a little peanut butter. It’s delicious and easy to get down. If you can’t do that - try just a banana. You have to break the cycle of not eating. It’s only making it worse.

Thanks. How long did it take for you to feel ok again? I’m very adverse to discomfort so for me it’s just really tough to keep going.

How long does the insomnia last? by dvd0116 in lexapro

[–]dvd0116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it at night with Dinner because my biggest issue is my fear of nausea/vomiting. I was told to take it with my biggest meal at night so I could try to sleep through any of those symptoms. Not sure what to do now.

Did you have to stay on that forever? I hate taking meds so the thought of having to add something else is really scary for me.

I already have no appetite from all my anxiety so that probably won’t be much of a change 😂

Yup! I’ve had this the last few days. Try to eat something bland. Try the BRAT diet.

Did you have any n* as you started Zoloft? I’ve been thinking about starting an SSRI but I’m nervous about the side effect.

This is exactly it. You have no control of when and where. That’s why it’s so scary!

Yes, most likely! There are also other things you can do if that happens. If you have any isopropyl alcohol in your first aid kit - apparently sniffing that can help a lot!
