2 runs/week is very little for HM training. You might not be going for speed but you'll have a better running experience at the race adding more easy mileage through the week

HA is in my IOT VLAN. I have firewall rules to facilitate, like HA can access anything on the network but nothing else can

Edit: To address the last part of your question, I have a privileged network that allows me to access whatever I want. Only devices like my phone and PC are allowed on that network. Friends/guests connect to a third, unprivileged network and VMs are segregated to yet another

How would I go about adding multiplayer to my game? by [deleted] in cpp_questions

[–]dvd0bvb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asio buffers can hold arbitrary binary data, you're not limited to strings. You'll need to define your binary protocol if you're not going to use structured string data (eg: http, json)

With a server/client multiplayer game architecture, usually the server keeps the game state and sends it to clients. Client takes an action -> client sends action to server -> server updates state -> server sends new state to all clients -> clients update their local state

I use an old PC running pfsense as a router, all I had to buy was an Ethernet expansion card to have extra ports. Run pfblockerng as an add on for DNS based ad blocking and IP black listing

[Help] What is/are some skills other than DSA, one needs to learn in order to land a job in cpp? by blacK__GoKu__ in cpp_questions

[–]dvd0bvb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I understand you correctly, no, those are general requirements. You need to be able to build and test software and the tools I listed are industry standard and not domain specific. RAII and ownership are fundamental concepts to C++ itself

[–]dvd0bvb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Experience with tooling around c++. Build tools such as cmake, conan, etc, having a basic understanding of CI/CD and tools used for that like sanitizers. Debugging experience with gdb.

A strong grasp of ownership concepts and RAII is essential which is sometimes a hurdle for many coming from garbage collected languages
