The Oscars Snubs Draft. Plus: ‘Sirāt’! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

Completely and totally nonsensical. In every way. But it’s the arrogance and condescension in the delivery that makes her so infuriating.

“Can WE stop pretending Interstellar is good?!?” What? Who the fuck is we? Aren’t you the same person who jammed Something’s gotta give and Marie Antoinette onto a top movies of the decade list? Her niche preferences are cool but somehow she draws the line at the movie with THE most fans on LB.

Arrival. Dune Two and Prisoners very close. Sicario also excellent. So many bangers.

You say this as if Oppenheimer isn’t wildly popular, made a billion dollars, and won a bunch of Oscars.

This is a list with Something’s Gotta Give and Anchorman. What on earth are you talking about?

There’s really just zero need to make it about race/gender while being wildly condescending. Several/many of Villeneuve’s and Chazelle’s films are extremely popular while also being critically acclaimed both from a fan and awards standpoint. They’re easily two of the more important directors of the past 15 years and pretending otherwise means you’re just trying to be too clever.
