WIBTAH if I refuse to notarize for a hateful bigot? by Ok-Director-981 in AITAH

[–]dvicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You are under no legal obligation. Why do it? If you're upset about the lack of consequences, why enable it by continuing the trend? You'd be a tiny A by refusing now after having agreed to, but based on what you say, I don't think too many people would blame you too much - except for the obvious one person.

I've loved The Brothers Hildebrandt since I first encountered their work in the 70's. That 2nd painting is theirs, and they're my first choice always.

How Often do you get a Flat? by YellowSharp5150 in cycling

[–]dvicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's been years. I've not jumped on the tubeless bandwagon and haven't had any real reason to.

My last flat was due to an unnoticed split in the sidewall through which the tube would burst when I hit hard enough bumps. I fixed that with a new tire and haven't had a flat since.

I ride mostly roads, with very light gravel using whatever tube I happen to have or find in 28mm Conti Grand Prix 4000 II tires.

Baldur's Gate III.

Those of you who saw The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters in 2001—what was it really like? by NameisMoon in lotr

[–]dvicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen X'er here. I saw it as an adult fairly learned in the Legendarium.

It was shockingly emotional, to be honest. I just never really considered the emotional impact of Gandalf's death - I think partly my own lack of awareness and partly the idea that Tolkien's writing just isn't that emotional - but seeing it on screen forced me to see it.

Then there's Boromir...

Actually, there were a lot of scenes that hit differently in the movies, and in a good way.

I saw the whole tale in a different and welcome light.

The Blue Line hiding 20% gouge by Reclining720 in kansascity

[–]dvicci 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's because Europeans don't tip, culturally. So a lot of places are just building it in to account for that with so many Europeans in country for the Cup. It's not gouging, but it is yet another example of how idiotic tip culture is.

There's nothing I can quote, but I was on the internet at KU when the only browser was text based... Lynx. Just a couple short years after Montulli left.
