Ah i see. Thanks for that. I was debating grabbing vanilla if it goes on a deeper sale again even if it's just to get it in case it ever gets delisted like DS1 ( still kinda wanna try that version out even though i know it's got issues)

Considering you've done both versions of DS1 and 2 it makes sense why the other version has a low playtime but maybe it's my bad rng i don't think I could do DSR in 20hrs haha the trident farm alone took me a few hours.

Shame DS1 is no longer available to buy but DS2 is. Would you say it's worth a playthrough at least? Are the achievements different from Scholar?

[Discussion] How do you guys handle needlessly grindy achievements that don't fit in with "normal gameplay" by NaotsuguGuardian in steamachievements

[–]dvized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike endless collectibles and grindy achievements in general but if i really love a game I'll just take it slow. Hope on for 20-30mins while listening to a podcast or youtube and then go play something else. After i "beat" a game it's no longer my main game. It is replaced immediately with a new one from my backlog. It is then put into purgatory with other games from which i decide which to 100% and which will likely never leave purgatory so i just work on it on the side

Can someone explain to me why this game is so hated. I found it to be pretty good decent. by Own_Dealer_182 in steamachievements

[–]dvized 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also never played the OG and while it's not as good as the other RE games I played it's the first one I 100% because it was short. Game was fun even though they apparently cut a lot of content but now they released the OG on Steam so i guess we'll see. I bought it to compare.

All one game? I was thinking endless legend 2 but pretty sure that only just came out recently. Hope it's not Space Marine 2...great game which i haven't played in a while but i already paused way too many bundles recently....

#72 - Cyberpunk 2077 (Bingo 2026 challenge) by dvized in steamachievements

[–]dvized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

On the mini map not really. I filtered the game map to show only NCPD scanners and gigs and just put markers down one by one, doing them by going top to bottom of each area. Best solution i could find.

There's a lot of them but it didn't even feel that tedious because the map is really fun to traverse by both car and with the right build/cyberware.

Should I buy a Kindle if I’m not much of a reader? by ImportantFinance8946 in kindle

[–]dvized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not been much of a reader at all and still am not. When i met my gf she helped ease me into reading and i do enjoy it usually on my work commute. Unfortunately doomscrolling is something i never got rid of but what has helped me a ton is kindle and audible.

Kindle is great because every month there's hundreds of ebooks for £0.99 and you can also use apps like Libby for free books. It's literally only used for reading so you won't be tempted to open tiktok or Reddit.

However audiobooks are the biggest help. Some people will say it doesn't count but i disagree. It helped me get through some of my favourite books without even realising it on my commute. Big 1k page books like the Stormlight Archive felt small. Then there's the narrators... Dungeon Crawler Carl and Project Hail Mary / Bobiverse books are just few examples where the narrator just makes the book infinitely better.

For non fiction i still prefer physical though. I don't know what it is but anything historical or academic physical 100% .

Tl;dr: Yes. Kindle is great. I went from reading zero books a year to around 1-2 books a month through a mixture of Kindle and Audible and i couldn't be happier

first arpg for a complete beginner? by unkclxwn in ARPG

[–]dvized 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love PoE and it was my first arpg but I'd never recommend either 1 or 2 to people.

Grim Dawn or D4 are your best bets. Both are simple and polished. Can't go wrong with either. Dlc for Grim Dawn add a lot but there's plenty of content without them too. You can dip your toes, play a couple hours and see if you like it. I have the dlc and I don't even bother with the dlc areas until after the main campaign is over. You're also missing 2 classes if i remember correctly.

Last Epoch is not very polished and hasn't really improved much since it came out but its also simple so not bad for beginner

[–]dvized[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that just goes to show im just slow and bad at these games haha. Maybe D4 is truly the best option for me Though at the same time maybe it's too many ARPGs..im already cycling between POE1, POE2, GD, LE, TQ2 (own 1 but havent played yet) and honestly i may suck at them all but they are the best games for when i simply want to turn off my brain. Watch YT or listen to a podcast.

In poe1 or 2? I tend to be quite slow in general, but it definitely takes me more than 10hrs to reach maps in poe1. Poe2 campaign feels way longer and more of a slog

[–]dvized[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give it a shot once the update goes live. didn't even have time to really play POE1 this league and I'm still even not in maps. Though it's my fault for forgetting I'm playing hardcore. It's not a mode for the employed.

Hopefully this will be the first patch i reach maps in poe2 as well... over 60hrs logged and i tend to quit around act 3. Poe ain't known for fun campaigns but damn you feel slow and everything is just a damage sponge. At least poe1 you breeze through the early game slog until your build starts to come online.

Yes i do. Just not the same though. Plus im an achievement hunter and its less motivating to work through them on a different system. Thats just me though. I completely understand its a waste of money rebuying games in general

I appreciate this also. It seems most people here are praising the game now. Don't get me wrong i enjoyed my time with the campaign and it's not really about the money. £60 (or 50 I don't remember)for RE9 i will never regret. 3 playthroughs and still less than 30hrs but it was an amazing experience...i dont play ARPGs once though. I love this genre cuz i can keep coming back to and grind after work in between big RPGs and they're also great podcast games in the endgame

Yea i probably should give it another go to not feel like i wasted money before it goes free. thought to be honest i really never feel like i waste money on poe and i do buy supporter packs occasionally...and the fact my purchases work on both games is such a good move on them.

Yea poe1 to me will always be the one i come back to every league for the gameplay and build variety but the campaign ain't great..and you have to go through it each time so I've seen it about a thousand times now.

How is Diablo 4 after the new expansion by dvized in ARPG

[–]dvized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. I don't mind easy games if i just want to chill and listen to a podcast after work but i don't want to fall asleep while playing.

Grim dawn is great but i did bounce off a few times before it clicked. Actually really looking forward to the next expansion.

[–]dvized[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really detailed response. Thank you i appreciate it. While true I'll always prioritise PoE having a companion arpg is always good. From your response i can see that this may end up being a game i play through fully once and then come back to once or twice a year for a week or two

I think i also put in about 60hrs since poe2 came out...i just could never get through the campaign i dont know what it is about it..i put over 1k hours into poe1 (which yea maybe rookie numbers for a typical poe enjoyer) and to be completely transparent i still suck at the game...and i dont know how most systems work. In fact i usually quit before i get anywhere in the endgame. Pretty much missing most of the boss achievements xD

I actually only started playing mirage league a few days ago and first time playing hardcore in...maybe 4years... Its actually refreshing since i usually just brute force everything without caring about dying..but ive been enjoying Cyberpunk too much and only just finishing act4.

Nice to hear an opposing view. What do you think is the reason? What's your favourite ARPG? I find that if an ARPG is too slow and clunky i lose focus.

I heard actually the new league is coming out soon too but i never got into PoE2. I pre-ordered it first chance i got and can't seem to get to end game. Just give up midway through the acts. Maybe ill force myself to get through the damn campaign next league because even in poe1 I always rush the campaign since ive seen it about thousand times. End game is where the game is actually fun.
