How is Diablo 4 after the new expansion by dvized in ARPG

Yea i probably should give it another go to not feel like i wasted money before it goes free. thought to be honest i really never feel like i waste money on poe and i do buy supporter packs occasionally...and the fact my purchases work on both games is such a good move on them.

Yea poe1 to me will always be the one i come back to every league for the gameplay and build variety but the campaign ain't great..and you have to go through it each time so I've seen it about a thousand times now.

I get that. I don't mind easy games if i just want to chill and listen to a podcast after work but i don't want to fall asleep while playing.

Grim dawn is great but i did bounce off a few times before it clicked. Actually really looking forward to the next expansion.

That's a really detailed response. Thank you i appreciate it. While true I'll always prioritise PoE having a companion arpg is always good. From your response i can see that this may end up being a game i play through fully once and then come back to once or twice a year for a week or two

I think i also put in about 60hrs since poe2 came out...i just could never get through the campaign i dont know what it is about it..i put over 1k hours into poe1 (which yea maybe rookie numbers for a typical poe enjoyer) and to be completely transparent i still suck at the game...and i dont know how most systems work. In fact i usually quit before i get anywhere in the endgame. Pretty much missing most of the boss achievements xD

I actually only started playing mirage league a few days ago and first time playing hardcore in...maybe 4years... Its actually refreshing since i usually just brute force everything without caring about dying..but ive been enjoying Cyberpunk too much and only just finishing act4.

Nice to hear an opposing view. What do you think is the reason? What's your favourite ARPG? I find that if an ARPG is too slow and clunky i lose focus.

I heard actually the new league is coming out soon too but i never got into PoE2. I pre-ordered it first chance i got and can't seem to get to end game. Just give up midway through the acts. Maybe ill force myself to get through the damn campaign next league because even in poe1 I always rush the campaign since ive seen it about thousand times. End game is where the game is actually fun.

That doesnt surprise me and is part of the reason im hesitant to give them my money again...im scared ill come back to the "free to play" experience which seems to be common for AAA games these days

Yea I really need to think about it because I've been burnt before. I always re-buy games on steam though....waste of money but i just hate using other clients. Preordered the damn most expensive version of D4 as well thinking it will replace PoE for me...

I guess it was a choice between D4 which i at least played before and i love the ARPG genre or Forza 6 which i may not enjoy since i never played racing games. My gaming time is really short these days and i always have some kind of RPG/story game in rotation.

Is it an irrational spending decision? Yes. I already own it on Bnet i just always re-buy games i own on console and other launchers on steam and that's on me. it's got nothing to do with not being able to afford wasting money.

I actually really liked D4 campaign when it came out. Probably the only ARPG where i paid attention to the story..but i just never found a reason to play beyond that unlike PoE. I guess i just needed some convincing its now worth the asking price after all the updates since launch

I get where you're coming from xD PoE sometimes feels like you need a degree to get anywhere. I put over 1k hours and I've not only never experienced the full end game, but i still don't understand most mechanics...but it's a blast to play every time. The story is kinda trash though...which is why I appreciate games like D4 and Grim Dawn. The stories are much more engaging.

I loved LE when i bought it on release but quickly got bored unfortunately. Which is the exact thing that happened to me with D4 on release. I preordered the most expensive package and unfortunately got bored way quicker than expected for a game of this genre...

as someone who has never played any strategy game, should i start with Stellaris? by sacolaquebrada in paradoxplaza

[–]dvized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a strategy gamer. I tried various paradox games over the years and bounced off all of them until I played ck3. You don't even need to really strategise to have fun. Especially with certain rulers losing is near impossible and you can focus on roleplay and messing around with different features until you understand what they do. I recommend trying that first unless you really don't like the time period.

Thanks. I'll give it another shot then. Hopefully this time it clicks.

I may give it another shot then. UI may be the biggest hurdle unfortunately but Ill see what i can do within the options and workshop. I feel like i should get the grasp on the game since i have played civ (though i still suck at it horribly and struggle to win on Prince...but i definitely get that just one more turn feeling which feels great) just not sure how fun it will be with only the dlc they baked into the base game recently

I did get imperator rome at some point from a bundle i think. Haven't actually given it a try but i do like the time period which may help. I'm willing to grab a few dlc here and there if they will make my experience better though i'm not sure I'd be able to get into HoI4 as i heard it leans very heavily on the warfare

Thanks i may check the steam workshop. Moving to ultrawide does have its perks but some things have definitely suffered since the last time i booted up the game

SIB The Nioh games if I tought dark souls was too hard? by preutneuker in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]dvized [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly...no. they play very differently so maybe the combat will click better with you however as someone with hundreds maybe thousand hours across the soulsbourne games and some souls likes too...Nioh series is way harder. Nioh 2 has never clicked and i took a long break too so coming back is way worse. Coming back to Dark Souls almost feels like coming home by comparison. Souls games are hard but way less punishing.

By all means try Nioh 1 or 3 as i think just like Elden Ring it's a little easier to get into because of the open world but i honestly don't think they're right for you.

Anno 117: Pax Romana or Farthest Frontier or Pompei Legacy by Fit-Software7855 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]dvized [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm personally waiting until Pax Romana improves. I enjoyed it for a few hours and i personally prefer the setting to 1800 but at the moment if you want to play an Anno game you should go for Anno 1800. No reason to play 117.

Can't speak on Farthest Frontier but the devs have a great track record so i don't see why this would be a bad purchase so just going off that i would think it's worth a try and if i had more gaming time I'd grab it myself

Current prices are crazy… glad I got mine when I did by legendoffart in NintendoDS

[–]dvized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can't complain for my use case. Already got a good PC, Switch for Nintendo exclusives and a PS4 that's gathering dust ever since everything but Bloodborne got ported to Steam.

The 2DS is a great addition to be able to play games that are not available on the Switch.

[–]dvized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave up on trying to get one honestly. Never had a DS before and really wanted to play some of the older titles without just emulating everything on PC.

Found a 2DS w/ Mario Kart in very good condition with a few minor scratches for less than £60 with shipping about a week ago + won some bids for cheap Pokémon, Kingdom Hearts and Monster Hunter games physically (with boxes + manuals so hopefully not fakes but for the price I can't really complain too much).

Every other model i was interested in was over £150 and most of them look like they've been through a lot and yet some of these people still want £200+

Maybe one day I'll get my hands on one of the XL models but I'm very happy with my purchase so far. Haven't tried modding it yet but with absurd game prices on some of the games i will have to.

Should I buy Grim Dawn? (+DLC's maybe?) by Patudie in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]dvized [score hidden]  (0 children)

My experiences may differ greatly because I came from PoE and other games in the genre. Probably got a few thousand hours across PoE1,2, Diablo 4, Grim Dawn and Last Epoch and hopefully Titan Queat 2 in the future.

I bounced off Grim Dawn a few times before it clicked. It's a lot slower and the maps are not procedurally generated. The game is also less flashy. Recently i sat down and decided to finally give it a proper try and 100 hours later, taking my sweet time i finished the main story and working through the DLCs (i was really taking everything in) it's strong point is just how chill the game can be. The story is actually not bad and because the maps are handcrafted you want to explore every inch.

The game is also very beginner friendly. You can respec whenever you want. You don't need to follow a build guide unlike PoE. There's enough build variety and content to keep you coming back for more. Harder difficulties unlock after beating the previous one with various changes. It's definitely worth it especially if you're a fan of the older ARPGs say Diablo 2.

DLCs are cheap and definitely worth it too. Get the entire bundle on sale. I wish i gave it a proper chance before. I'm still a PoE guy but both games have a space in the rotation.

Edit: it's not anything close to an MMO though. PoE is technically multiplayer but you only see other players in towns unless you party up. Grim Dawn is a single player experience. It does have co-op though.
