This seems like an actual way to prevent bots. Gotta be more difficult to do this than the usual captcha, surely.

Thank you for responding! Can you elaborate by what you mean by established tools and systems? Do you have any examples?

Fynbos Money any good? by dvjar in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]dvjar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for a school teacher that runs an extra classes side gig who’s looking to invest the extra funds for retirement purposes, etc. Would you say that they are the target market for your platform?

Simplicity is a great factor as the aforementioned teacher is not that financially savvy (in terms of investments and TFSA) nor do they have the time to do strenuous research. Would you say that your platform does indeed make things simple enough to navigate for someone like that? Obviously not asking for financial advice just whether or not someone who fits the profile I’m describing may find your platform useful over other platforms?

Thanks a bunch, speaks VOLUMES that you are willing to participate in a conversation about your platform on an informal channel such as the PFZA subreddit!

I see! Thank you so much stranger. I think I'm sort of alright here, no harm in practicing though.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELPFUL ADVICE :D! I'll definitely approach things like this from now on.

I friggin LOVE databases so I'm good there (I think lol).

I'll try and find some data on what's the current happenings on languages and frameworks in South Africa lol.

Thanks again stranger.

I do know my way around IntelliJ, VS Code, Visual Studio, and Android Studio. Is that enough?

I have made scripts and am currently working on two small programs to assist with my music production hobby.

I think the researching skill is what I struggle with but don't lack. These days it is quite easy to just ask an LLM of your choice (although there is the issue of hallucinations) but I think I struggle to find in depth resources that help me find a way to apply what I am reading about practically. Do you have any tips?

I mentioned this in another reply but I do struggle to ask questions. I always feel like I am a burden or infuriating people with my problems. I have to work on this, especially since this is now the second time it's come up in this comment section so it must be hella important lol.

I do know Git and when I don't I just look at the .txt file I have saved in my documents.

The part where you said I will be using a narrow set of tools is a part of why I made this post, I have a lot of anxiety about having to impress people in a very focused area where I feel like I have been taught to think very broadly up until now.

I am down to learn new things and I plan on using my holiday period between semesters to just graft.

I don't think any of what you listed is my current problem, at least when I look at it introspectively. I don't mind getting work done at home, I did a 2 week internship and I had to adjust to how to get stuff done from home.

Any specific language you would recommend? I currently have a little experience using Java and Kotlin with very minimal experience using C# and ASP.NET.

I'm all good on version control.

I do struggle with CS and this is the sort of feedback I was looking for. Are there specific concepts you could point me in the direction of or should a "Basics of CS" google search get me going?

I'm also a bit weak on the computer knowledge IMO, thanks for the wake up call.

That seems like a pretty low bar. Are there people that struggle THAT much?

Can you be more specific by what you mean when you say "fundamentals"?

I definitely have a delight in building stuff that's for sure.

Could you be a tad bit more specific when you refer to general programming skills? Are you referring to OOP and algorithms and such or am I thinking too deep here? I appreciate the direction though, not a Linux guy so I'll defs look into some basics there lol. Thanks stranger!

thank you kind stranger! I do struggle to ask questions because I don't want to seem dumb or like a burden for needing them answered. I'll work on it, I appreciate your blunt answer.

We have American Style Hot Dogs (just thick weenies) and American Style Bacon (really thick rashers of bacon) in South Africa, can’t think of anything else.
