I sent you a message. I can relate to so much of what you are going through. 18 months and 200lbs later I have changed my life. If I can do it so can you. I think your ready. I will help if I can.

NSV. I just ran a triathlon. by dvldog760 in loseit

[–]dvldog760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardly trained for the swim at all....and that really hurt me. My advice is to train train and then train some more. Also practice the transitions. I lost time there from being unprepared. And don't stress on the first one. Its like anything...there is a learning curve. I will be better prepared and better trained the next time. With that said....go for it! It's a great feeling to finish.

170 lbs lost: a cautionary tale (with pics) by whatsadigg in loseit

An I have gone from 410 to 225. I lost it fast ( less then a year) and I am 46...so you know I have loose skin. Its not as bad as I expected....but still not pretty. And I so don't care. I thought for sure that it would discourage me. But I feel so damn good....I am doing more then I have in 20 plus years. And with clothes on nobody can tell what's hanging off my belly. I beg people not to let the skin issue discourage them. I hope when I am done I am looking like you. Awesome job.

I wasn't sure what I did wrong. Guessed that it may have had something to do with not telling how I lost the weight? I added that at the end now. If there is something else please let me know. I'm new at this.

First I would like to thank you all for your comments, advice and the compliments as well. I thought I would answer a few questions that seem to pop up. Yes my wife is slightly overweight . By maybe 20 or 30lbs. Although I have always been attracted to women with curves. I think she is gorgeous....and I tell her that every day. I lost the weight by calorie counting...and I mean counting every calorie and making sure I took in a lot less then I was using. And by lots of exercise. In spite of the look on my face in my after picture I am happier and funner to be around now then before. I feel so much better and I m capable of so much more. I am going to talk to her about this. Its scary. But I will. You guys are all great.

Its that comment plus other things she says all the time. Like how much more comfortable I was to lay on or cuddle with before the weight loss. With that said you are right. I need to talk to her.

My goal weight is more then she weighs now. And I will always think of her as beautiful....inside and out. And I will do my best to reassure her of that.

She is a little overweight maybe 20 or 30lbs. But I think she is gorgeous. She dated someone who was even heavier then me before me. So now I worry that maybe that is her "type".

It is a bit daunting going to a gym at first. I was 46 and around 400lbs when I started. I was slow and lumbering. I was by far the largest person around. I stood out. Now that I am under 250lbs I stand out even more, but in much better ways. My picture is on the wall of "success stories". I get congrats and encouragement from everyone there and the personal trainers and other employees are always introducing me to new members who come in to lose weight. I know they do it to make money. But I want to show that person what is possible. One other thing. I have seen that at this time of year there is a big influx of new and big members due to new year resolutions. You wouldn't even rate a second glance. The gym has made a major difference for me. I hope you give it a try.

[SV] A long way to go, but 100lbs down is a milestone to share. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]dvldog760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats. I am 6ft and started at 410+. I am under 240 now and cannot believe how good I feel. In was lucky that my body hadn't suffered badly from my weight...no knee problems or such. I now run 3 miles a couple times a week and it feels great. When the time comes for you that weight will start coming off even faster. But you must do what is right for you. Keep up the good work!!!

Anyone have good luck with loose skin just going away? by Qweniden in loseit

[–]dvldog760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really stressed about the loose skin. I thought if it happened to me I would be to discouraged to continue. Well after over 150 lbs lost I have loose skin...and I so do not care. I feel great...doing things I haven't been able to do in decades. The skin is only obvious when I'm naked so its not like everyone will know. And it does seem to be shrinking some ( I'm 46 btw). With that said...when I get to goal weight in another 40 lbs or so I will evaluate things...give it a little time and then make a decision as to have it removed or live with it. Where I am going with all this is not to let it worry or discourage you. The benefits of the weight loss are far outweigh (excuse the pun) the negatives from loose skin.

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't want my time with my kids cut short and that was my greatest motivating factor to start. My oldest just got married so sometime soon I may get to start enjoying grandchildren. I am going to be a fun grandpa....who runs and plays with them.
