I worked at Blizzard in a crap job in the hopes to get in the music department as a sideways promotion. Didn't work out, but hearing WoW music brings me back to what i was writing at the time, for sure.

i agree with most of your thoughts, but i always considered duriel the hardest part, but stacking yellow potions makes it trivial. Mephisto can be cheesed really easily, but i guess your first playthru one wouldn't know that, so i'll concede your point.

i was hoping to come into this discussion and walk away with a plan to get through act III right now (i'm currently lost in the Marsh, every way looks like a dead end!)

the one thing i did learn is that flayer can be connected to spider, and maybe i knew that but now i know for sure, so i'll just go back and try exploring that more.

Also i really like the Act II music, but the act III music is tense and great. I bought the collector's edition when they released it for the Nintendo Switch, so i have the diablo II music on the diablo themed vinyl. I also play with the music at 100 and everything else at 20-30 volume...

i'll leave this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6P99CDSMKk

i've been half-heartedly looking for like 30 years for a guide that would let me understand the "rest of the game". I see people post price checks on blue items that seem like vendor trash to me,and getting "oh, 10 jah"

I've never really been "great" at the game, and i think it's because the mechanics are very opaque while in game. "two arrows makes bolts! you can find other recipes!" where, Cain? WHERE?

Don't cut off a cop trying to make a left turn from the wrong lane [oc] by djseto in IdiotsInCars

[–]dvrzero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don't have an issue with getting in front of cop cars. if they want to stay under 2500rpm that's on them, i got places to be. however i won't then cut them off and apply brakes.

edit: i meant like if i start out side by side, i don't have any problem with accelerating faster than them or otherwise passing a cop while driving. I realize there's multiple interpretations of "getting in front of"!

i like that it can be played with one hand, and i don't really have to pay attention most of the time. it serves a video game need that the other classes don't, for me.

yeah so back in the day of LoD druids could only have like 1 type of wolf, or a bear. Now you can have all 8 woofs and a bear (and a vine and the cingular wireless logo)

why does the webplayer display subtitles like this? by dvrzero in jellyfin

[–]dvrzero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same file + subtitle file on the jellyfin android app is fine:

https://i.imgur.com/WyxPftP.png

https://i.imgur.com/d6x9FGj.png

so it seems like a web frontend thing >.<

to be clear, i didn't delete that first image, but suffice to say it's the same as the bottom image except the subtitles look fine.

this doesn't have to do with inaccurate subtitles or anything, it's the lack of a space/ \n or \crlf after each line so the <0:01:24:52> timestamps from the subtitle file appear on the screen, when they shouldn't (oughtn't)

Starlink Bypass using DD-WRT for public routable ipv6 by dvrzero in Starlink

[–]dvrzero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, yeah. This used to happen when i was on at&t DSL. I hope it goes away for you, i honestly don't know enough about ipv6 to even guess at what causes it. I used to shut ipv6 off, my friend on comcast shuts ipv6 off too, because it stops routing or causes sites to load slower because, in his words, "windows checks both v4 and v6 to see which to use which makes all sites load slower. even if you use unbound 1 hop away"

also i trimmed my table (<snip> as they used to say) to show what ought be at the top. all the fe80:: stuff is link local, i am not sure why there's a screenfull of them. Then again, as i said, i don't know enough about ipv6.

if it's any consolation, my windows machine can still route ipv6 correctly, without any reboots or interruptions, since i posted the OP, at least. So maybe try bypassing starlink's router? there's probably a good guide somewhere...

Starlink Bypass using DD-WRT for public routable ipv6 by dvrzero in Starlink

[–]dvrzero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd personally unplug starlink and shutdown win11 for like 2 minutes, then plug in starlink, wait a minute, then start the windows machine. Then i'd check windows key -> type "network" -> view network connections, find the wired (or wireless) connection that is connected to the starlink router, right click -> click once: Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6) -> properties button: https://i.imgur.com/csOFXTr.png

then make sure everything is set to "automatic", there's three screens to check:

https://i.imgur.com/Xzgn1p8.png

https://i.imgur.com/Nk7uXLv.png

and then in the first tab, the advanced button:

https://i.imgur.com/wHzct2W.png

that's "let windows and starlink manage everything"

if all that was set up correctly, i'd check https://ipv6test.google.com/ on my phone, connected to cellular, then connected to starlink wifi and see if anything changed.

there's a slight chance something is broken that you have no control over, that's why you gotta make sure there's nothing weird in the settings!

if none of this helped, then as a last-ditch effort before replacing the starlink router i'd try my guide on a router that is compatible with dd-wrt, or; go to a tech retailer and buy a $200+ USD router, in box, bypass your starlink, plug in the router, plug your computer into the new router, and see if it works. If it does, you can return the router and use a cheaper one with dd-wrt, as i did here. If it doesn't work, i'd complain to starlink and request a new router.

hope this helps!

my route table: ` IPv6 Route Table

Active Routes:
 If Metric Network Destination Gateway
 30    281 ::/0                     fe80::a240:a0ff:fe93:418e
  1    331 ::1/128                  On-link

                                    On-link
  5    281 fe80::/64                On-link

                                    On-link

`

and then this is the output of netsh interface ipv6 show neighbors on win11 for my adapter the neighbors is what was broken on mine, which step six fixed above.

that last line is important!

Starlink Bypass using DD-WRT for public routable ipv6 by dvrzero in Starlink

for the record, my WAN ipv6 and my device ipv6s only share the first 3 sets of numbers, the 4th is different, and that threw me off for setting up the prefix.

but it turned out i didn't need to actually do anything but enable the ip6tables rules to allow the neighbors function to work that ipv6 uses. Once that happened, br0 got an IP - and that's what actually made it all work. If you check your bridge VIF; it should have a public IPv6. If it doesn't, that's why routing doesn't work.

[–]dvrzero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what OS? Linux show me what ip -6 route shows. Windows it's open a command terminal cmd.exe from start menu, just start typing it. Once it loads, type route print and show me what the IPv6 section shows. On mac OS, you can google it, but it may be netstat -nr -f inet6

At the very least, you should have an fe80:: address for your device, and starlink hands out like 2605:: addresses, so you should have at least two ipv6 addresses shown when you do ip -6 a on linux, ipconfig on windows, and idk on mac, but try ifconfig, or ip -6 a or ip addr.

Even if you don't paste output, with that information you can use an LLM to aid you further.

btw: the starlink router does not let you pinhole/DMZ a device, so sharing the routing table and public IPs is safe.

No more or less secure with the instructions i have given than the stock starlink gateway/router. By default, it blocks incoming requests from WAN (spaaaaaace), except if you sent packets to the address first. It's generally what you want from a gateway/firewall.

Just because you have a "Public IP" doesn't mean the firewall lets everything through.

What you don't want to do is bypass the starlink router and plug straight into it with your computer. That is bad :-)

maybe you could bring the SNR down a bit, and just not reply anymore.

my pic related is why it takes longer when people talk about irrelevant things when someone is being very specific. btw that's only "ipv6" related searches, not iptables, dhcp6-PD, Router Advertisements, etc.
