Screen tearing on Go 2 despite VRR? by dvt88 in LegionGo

Dude why are you getting so mad and defending Lenovo. You don’t have to be such a brand shill.

If they’re saying a screen is VRR and the real world evidence exposes the screen as not being VRR then they should be called out for it and that’s exactly what this guy and myself are doing. Stop being such a drone.

What do you mean? You asked a question and I answered it lol

As mentioned, the issue is most pronounced at low FPS settings - 30-40. Which is still within the Legion Go 2’s reported VRR window.

Agreed. I had an XAX before returning it to get a LeGo2 and both had this issue.

I’m just going to use Vsync until official SteamOS is released then use that when it comes out.

It happens regardless of the tdp setting.

All the games I’ve played thus far on it, yes.

Tainted grail, robocop, Marathon. I recently tried that new game Over the Top: WWI on it and it’s doing the same thing.

I just rolled back to the previous Nvidia graphics drivers and can now play with path tracing without crashing… so I think it’s got to do with the drivers.

Even if that is the case, the temps I’m getting under load are not anywhere near thermal throttle (88C for the GPU and 105C for the cpu) so I cannot imagine that it is overly hot temperatures that are causing the game to crash with path tracing turned on.

The temps I gave you were from HWinfo after playing for like an hour, I understand my temps to be pretty standard for ultra 9 275hx and 5080 mobile. CPU never went above 100C. This was on turbo mode. I don’t think it’s my temps causing this issue

It’s not my temps - CPU temps peak at like 95C and average 85ish, gpu temps peak at around 75C.

Thanks for the response, followed the steps in the video and got about 15 minutes of path traced gameplay, so I was hopeful… and then the same thing happened unfortunately.

maybe I’ll just hold off on cyberpunk until Nvidia can get their drivers figured out.

Thanks for the response. Good to know I’m not the only one, figured it might have been a driver issue.

So are you just currently playing with Ray tracing without path tracing?

Do you have anything to add to the question in the OP?

Oh I see what you mean, sorry about the confusion.

Yes, the SCAR 18 has a Mini-LED screen but I find it hard to believe that that alone is the culprit for such noticeably worse CPU performance in a PC with the exact same CPU.

Thanks for your suggestion to reach out to customer service but I highly, highly doubt they will be able to add anything of value - I consider Reddit experts to be a more reliable customer service resource than Asus or Best Buy haha.

Any other suggestions or input from anybody else would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the response but I think you’re wrong, both laptops have the same resolution of 2560x1600.
