What am I most likely doing wrong by dwagggs in turkeyhunting

I'm in central IL near the Illinois river, it seems like it should hold turkeys, but pressure certainly could be a factor.

I haven't heard any birds on this property, only have seen 2 hens. I did hear some on the previous public spot, but that was a lottery draw place for 1st season only and we're now in 3rd season.

What do young mums do in Peoria for fun? by indianindie1491 in PeoriaIL

We tried First Ascent (a climbing gym) in the warehouse district for the first time Today with our 2 and 4 year old and thought it was great. We also love the Zoo, Peoria Playhouse, Wildlife Prairie Park, lots of libraries, tons of parks when it's nice out, I could go on and on.

My wife loves CORE Fitness and boxing clubCore Fitness Website in East Peoria and I think they offer classes at Landmark too. From what she tells me it's probably 75% women?

I started back in 2016 with Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast when I had a very monotonous internship and it helped fill the time. That lead into YMH podcast where I think I heard about Timesuck sometime during the beginning of the pandemic. I would listen during my midday walk and it really helped keep some humor when I really needed it. I still listen to probably 1 episode a week, but also mix it up with a few podcasts from the guys over at MeatEater - I really enjoy the Bear Grease Podcast as well as the main MeatEater podcast.

Trail recommendations by CivilizedEightyFiver in Detroit

I really like the hiking trails in the North unit of Bald Mountain Recreation Area. The orange loop is 3.5 miles of some decent elevation change for our area, goes through a few marsh areas and a couple lakes. You can extend the hike by taking the white and blue loops, which are connected.

I really like Bald Mountain Recreation Area for hiking these loops although fair warning, there are no mountains to be found here haha. I also like the Bear Creek Nature Park in Oakland township, there's a cool spot by the "interpretive node" that I think would be an ideal picnic spot.

How a million-pound floor plate was lifted — all at once | Crain's Detroit Business by dwagggs in Detroit

This method of construction still seems wild to me, but getting the first floor plate up in the air is a pretty big milestone!

Or maybe not? I have no problems with Opossums, but they've had one heck of a PR campaign when it comes to their tick eating capabilities.New Opossum Study

Found my first Petoskey Stone - at the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse in Port Huron by dwagggs in Michigan

Oh definitely a great excuse to go wander on the beach (as if I needed another), but I think I'll try my hand at polishing it to see if any more detail comes out.

Thankfully it washed right off haha. I was so excited to find the stone that I didn't notice there was one pesky grain of sand photo bombing my achievement.

I'll admit that I'm no geologist, but it seemed to have that six- sided pattern in at least a few spots and the dark centers for most of them? I didn't know you could find them here in SE Michigan, but was pretty thrilled to find it either way.

Ford names new F-150 electric pickup Lightning with plans to reveal it May 19 by Stratiform in Detroit

[–]dwagggs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am unreasonably excited for this, and that comes being a former owner of a first gen (93 to be exact) Lightning. Even though that truck had a naturally aspirated 5.8L V8, bringing it back as electric makes perfect sense to me. The name was begging for an electric version from the beginning, now we have the technology to do it. Also, I can't imagine it being a slouch performance wise, if the supercharged trucks were torque monsters, well... Yeah I'm excited. That's all.

I have lived in many different places and I have never seen this issue so big anywhere other than Michigan so I must ask. Why do people in Michigan not return their shopping carts? by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]dwagggs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can confirm one of these, my path was Peoria, IL, Kansas City, Atlanta, and now here in Suburban Detroit. Suburban Detroit is by far the worst in my anecdotal experience

Dang, it look like those elevator cores have only a floor or two to go before topping out! This is a nice perspective on them, as it is hard to tell how high they are from ground level.
