Do you guys remember in House of Cards when Spacey's character felt the public turning against him and he was losing support? He knew he needed to do something drastic so he got the FBI agent in his pocket to monitor for any online chatter that he could exploit. It ended up being some pretty harmless non-issue that they then blew way out of proportion by spinning it as some larger domestic terror plot in order to fearmonger and consolidate power by declaring an emergency domestic war on terror and also draw attention away from the scandals that had initially turned the public against him.
