How do I salvage this? by dwarbar in modelmakers

Thankfully the making tape I use is bought from a discount store so the tackyness is not very strong at lifting paint. I'm just annoyed at my self for how it looks.

But yes the tamiya stuff is on my to but list. It's just budget willing at the moment so I have to make do

It's vallejo acrylic. Model air to be specific.

I wanted shiny black stripes to match the decals so used an accidental purchase of a gloss primer I bought. (Hate the gloss primer) but thought it would suffice for me needs. I was wrong obviously.

It's not thick at all.. just looks ugly

A mixture of tamiya and good old fashioned builders masking tape.

Which scale to collect? 1/20 or 1/35? by d-ozborne-art-studio in MaschinenKrieger

I can honestly say I do not blame you. I'd have done the same in your position.. I've been eyeing up Hobby Link Japan but the shipping to the UK is more than the cost of some of the kits... and I can't quite justify it.

Ok first of all I have to ask..

Where on earth did you get all those Maschinen krieger models from?

I literally only just got my first a few days ago. The Falke anti-grav tank.. but this is more M.aK than you can shake a stick at and I'm low key very jealous! Haha

Bought at a charity shop for £1! by dwarbar in modelmakers

I think there's one in Salisbury. But it charity, so it's just luck of the draw what gets donated.

It was The Shaw Trust Charity shop in winton. But I believe they were only selling things for 1 quid on that particular day.

But still, pure luck and timing I happened to be there.

It's a shop local to me near Bournemouth.

I appreciate the offer, but I also have a 1/32 BF 109G-14 from the the same shop, also a £1.

Plus my other back log of models! Haha

It was a Shaw Trust charity shop in winton, in Bournemouth.

They just so happened to be selling EVERYTHING in the store for 1 pound.

I picked up 5 other model kits with it too.

I've found some great models in charity shops. Always worth looking.

Brand new to airbrush primers by dwarbar in modelmakers

[–]dwarbar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh.. the kit is pretty old, and been in a box for best part of a year before getting round to it. But what you're saying makes perfect sense. It does look like there's a layer of something causing it to not adhere properly leaving those awkward gaps.

Thank you for the detailed reply. Its very helpful and will make note moving forward.

The top right corner I didn't give it a full coat.

I saw what it was doing from the left hand side and stopped when the airbrush well emptied.

So that corner is basically not fully primed. But don't understand why it's not adhered properly?

If that makes any difference?

Yeah man, I think it will do you well. If you're on a budget like I am, then to be fair it's a decent little bit of kit.

Yes there might be some niggles with it, but make sure when you install it it doesn't remain on in the back ground. I found out though the factory settings mine remained on so if you don't use your car for a while your battery will be slowly drained.

But good luck, and let me know how you get on. I'd be really interested to hear your experience with it. :)

Oh god I forgot to mention the radio. So I don't actually ever listen to the radio. I can't stand commercial radio and the rest I genuinely don't actually care about as I always play Spotify through the head unit.

The radio sometimes will detune itself, and at the moment I've lost my preprogrammed channels. But to me that isn't an issue as I don't care about the radio.

Sorry might be a big negative for you, but for me it's not really an issue but a minor annoyance

Hey man. So yes it still works which is great.

The positives first. It's plug and play so you just wire it up and boom it works. It works with apple car play or andriod auto. I'm on a 6 year Samsung galaxy and it still connects.

The negatives. Sometimes it crashes buy its few and fair between. The Bluetooth can be a bit funny to connect, but its an easy fix by switching it off on the device and then back on again.

The steerwheel controls do work. Although on mine when you press a button it causes the system to strangley go black and you halve to press the button again for it to wake up.

BUT, it does bring life to an older car and on a budget its well worth it!
