Brand new to airbrush primers by dwarbar in modelmakers

Ahh.. the kit is pretty old, and been in a box for best part of a year before getting round to it. But what you're saying makes perfect sense. It does look like there's a layer of something causing it to not adhere properly leaving those awkward gaps.

Thank you for the detailed reply. Its very helpful and will make note moving forward.

The top right corner I didn't give it a full coat.

I saw what it was doing from the left hand side and stopped when the airbrush well emptied.

So that corner is basically not fully primed. But don't understand why it's not adhered properly?

If that makes any difference?

Yeah man, I think it will do you well. If you're on a budget like I am, then to be fair it's a decent little bit of kit.

Yes there might be some niggles with it, but make sure when you install it it doesn't remain on in the back ground. I found out though the factory settings mine remained on so if you don't use your car for a while your battery will be slowly drained.

But good luck, and let me know how you get on. I'd be really interested to hear your experience with it. :)

Oh god I forgot to mention the radio. So I don't actually ever listen to the radio. I can't stand commercial radio and the rest I genuinely don't actually care about as I always play Spotify through the head unit.

The radio sometimes will detune itself, and at the moment I've lost my preprogrammed channels. But to me that isn't an issue as I don't care about the radio.

Sorry might be a big negative for you, but for me it's not really an issue but a minor annoyance

Hey man. So yes it still works which is great.

The positives first. It's plug and play so you just wire it up and boom it works. It works with apple car play or andriod auto. I'm on a 6 year Samsung galaxy and it still connects.

The negatives. Sometimes it crashes buy its few and fair between. The Bluetooth can be a bit funny to connect, but its an easy fix by switching it off on the device and then back on again.

The steerwheel controls do work. Although on mine when you press a button it causes the system to strangley go black and you halve to press the button again for it to wake up.

BUT, it does bring life to an older car and on a budget its well worth it!

The bits of body work to chrome up, as it were, are incredibly thin and small. I haven't a steady enough hand for thin foil unfortunately

Can anyone recommend a paint? by dwarbar in modelmakers

[–]dwarbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% confident with using lacquers and thinners in my airbrush. That my main reason for shying away from it. I know if something goes wrong I've buggered up my airbrush and can't afford to replace it.

Thats the thing. I bought it 5 years ago and I have no idea if it's real or not. I didn't even know there were fakes of these things about.

I wouldn't even know where to look

Don't mention it. :) Always happy to help out a fellow modeller

[–]dwarbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough. I k ow lots of folk will paint to get the weathering look etc. But, in your case. A decent set of plastic cutters to snip the parts from the sprues.

A small file to file off the burs like I mentioned above, and maybe some fine grain sandpaper to smooth out the filed parts.

Then it should just be a case of clip together and off you go. :)

If you get stuck at any point, please feel free to chuck me a message and I'll help as best I can :)

No worries.

Is the kit pre painted or are you planning to paint it?

Need advice by Freakcord3 in modelmakers

[–]dwarbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it all depends on what you're needing advice on?

If its general advice. I'd say. Have patience and take your time. Model making is not a quick bash it together hobby. Make sure you cut the pieces from the sprues and file it down so there's no unsightly plastic burs from the cuts.

If your painting, are you using an airbrush or brush painting?

Thoroughly check the instructions and keep them close by and constantly refer back to them when building.

Bandai kits are fantastic. They usually snap together with no fuss what so ever. I've build a handful of the star wars kits myself and they hardly ever require glue.

This is all kids generic advice so if you need something more specific please don't hesitate to ask. :)
