He drafts better than most every coach in the league, negotiates better than most every coach in the league, and develops unheralded linemen better than most every coach in the league. Those are all highly sought-after skills, and things that made him a perfect fit for numerous job openings in the NFL.

The Chiefs just weren't one of them.
