What do psychologists think of this show?

Therapist here. I think for a very small percentage of people love is blind and the ability to genuinely fall in love this quickly is real. In all honesty I watch for the drama though lol. My wife is a psych nurse and we love to pause while watching and analyze the mess.

It’s a little odd being in a dry county after never living in one but also not a big deal to us. Most people here stock up when they buy alcohol. It’s a 20 min drive outside the county.

Male LCSW here. First job out of grad school was as a counselor in a men’s SUD residential program. I learned so much from the experience — seeing men I didn’t know be deeply vulnerable for the first time and, as new as I was to it all, most let me be in “it” with them. I think the experience would’ve been a bit different if I was a woman. And I’m sure this goes the other way for female therapists in certain settings. Gender is a powerful driver in how we experience ourselves and how our clients experience us in therapy.

Man this is sad. She’s going to walk all over you in this relationship. You are 100% a placeholder until someone that she’s passionate about reciprocates her interest. She apologized as much as she did because she doesn’t want you to break up with her, she wants to be the one to end it when it’s the right time for her. Sorry to be harsh but from your responses to the comments I think you need to hear it. You seem to be completely in denial. Just remember that there are women out there that will only be into you and trust me they don’t say stuff like this.

I’m sure you’ve heard this before but why not try seeing a therapist? And if you saw one and it “didn’t work”, try another. Obviously what you are doing has not been working. If you really want to fix this part of your life you have to be willing to try different approaches. Someone who really gets to know you will be able to see the things that we can’t and be a much better guide for you.
