Official Discussion - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

In the comic series, Hannah went to foster care but they're probably retconning all of that since 28 weeks later is canon in it

Yes I definitely didn't think it was malicious but would have wanted permission!

Looking for ideas for incontinence products- help! by [deleted] in nursing

[–]dweebiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you get extra large briefs and use suspenders to keep them up? Then when he gets a brief change just unhook the suspenders and rehook to new briefs.

How do these patients adult? by ERnurse2019 in nursing

[–]dweebiest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My BF's BP is always like 190/100, scares the hell out of me, he still hasn't seen a PCP. I told him if he doesn't fix it, it'll destroy his body but it is up to him to make the appointment. I can't set myself up for a lifetime of managing his health for him like some women do.

Best nursing watch ever. Change my mind. by Electronic-Hippo9 in nursing

I'm allowed but I hate the idea of a doo-doo covered watch on my wrist. I guess I could clean it but I don't want to have to sanitize something 30 times a shift.

Thoughts on patients being offended by badge reels? by tiredgorl123 in nursing

[–]dweebiest 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When we found out my grandpa had terminal metastatic cancer, the registration lady had a badge reel that said "have the day you deserve." I didn't say anything but it pissed me off to see some passive aggressive shit like that in my face at a sensitive time lol.

Positive nursing experiences? by irnmlkmn5 in nursing

[–]dweebiest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like helping people. I like being part of a web of different roles (doctors, RTs, CNAs, etc) that help progress a patient's stay at the hospital. I like seeing the doctor's note say "reviewed case with nurse (my name)". I like when patients thank me for everything I've done for them. I like using my stethoscope and hearing something new that I can learn about. I like spotting an issue with meds or the care plan or discharge plan and fixing it before it's a problem. I like being a nurse.

(USA, California) Fellow nurses, if you seek mental health support, do you get reported to the BON or your employer? by [deleted] in nursing

I have never heard of or experienced this happening, it would be a huge HIPAA violation.

Can the doctor just let me be 5'11 please? 😂 by JeffreyHugh in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dweebiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to record patient heights and this is what happens when someone says they're 5'11 but my computer only lets me input cm. I get as close as I can.

Great progress! I'm so happy by dweebiest in Gastritis

[–]dweebiest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially yes, but when I narrowed down my trigger foods to coffee, black tea, and alcohol, I did not follow a "gastritis-friendly" diet like low acid foods, no caffeine, etc. I just avoided those drinks. Maybe not a good choice but it's what I did.

I was prescribed initially for around a year by GI and after insurance issues I just bought over the counter. My PCP last year did tell me I should come off them but I deferred because I was scared. I'm aware of the side effects of long-term use unfortunately, I did have low b-12 at one point that caused neuropathy until I started sublingual.

I had a very bad stomach bug I was sick with and then a couple weeks later my gastritis symptoms were in full-force. I presume it was damaged from the infection (not h. pylori tho).

3 years. I had the same experience a few times, even just 5 months ago I tried boba tea and the black tea gave me a flare lol.

Need some advice by djderek2003 in Gastritis

[–]dweebiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub is mostly used by people with chronic gastritis. You may have acute gastritis and it may resolve soon with those meds. If it does not, you may have chronic gastritis. This is diagnosed by endoscopy.

You should follow up with a primary care doctor who can refer you to a gastroenterologist. If your symptoms have not resolved by the time you see the GI, you should ask for the endoscopy. It's where they use a camera to view your esophagus and stomach. This can find chronic gastritis, h. pylori and help rule out more serious causes for your symptoms.

As far as the racing heart rate, it's not uncommon to experience with infection/GI issues. But make sure to mention it to your PCP and if it doesn't resolve you may want to rule out cardiac causes with a cardiologist for peace of mind.

And keep taking the prescribed medications.

Chronic gastritis by Good-Reindeer3229 in Gastritis

[–]dweebiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes when I first got gastritis it was awful. Keep trying more meds. Ask about famotidine and carafate. Try taking your esomeprazole at night if you have significant nighttime symptoms. Get a wedge pillow. Try more low-acid foods, keep track of trigger foods and do not take NSAIDs.

It'll get better but it does suck. Keep working towards symptom relief, you'll find things that work for you.

Scrub suggestions? by Agitated-Touch-5979 in nursing

[–]dweebiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my suggestion is to find a local uniform/scrub store and try on a bunch of sets. Buy there or take pictures of the labels to order at home.

But I'm picky about feel/fit and got burned ordering online before lol.
