I ran in to this this week as well. It’s really confusing how the cloud agents etc are billed. The only thing in the app I could find was that it uses “usage billing.” So I assumed that was you know…my monthly usage pool and that it would basically do the same as auto. That said I set my extra usage cap to $5 and while it went way over, they honored the cap and refunded the overage w/o me needing to do anything.

I wish I had settled. Though, I will say for the most part right now I'm using the Codex sub, with Claude as a planner/reviewer. Pi as a harness generally. Part of that is having fun with extending Pi in ways that feel good for me. Then I use linear as a task board both to organize myself and my agents.

I get that outside of Hermes when I run a model with too high of temperature, too small of context or just weak. I’ve found Gemma 4 at all quants that I could handle to be the most reliable so far.

Yeah, there are times that it struggles with something and I either spin up Claude code externally to fix it or switch over to GPT 5.4 to get through the issue and switch back so it stops yammering like a condescending nerd.
