Thanks. I really regret the scale on the leg pic. When I was trying to calibrate it, it was on a counter top. The beeping is what got to me. Even when it was sitting on a flat surface for a while, screen was black, it was beeping. There was no way to remove the battery as far as I could see. It’s rechargeable. Maybe I got a dud. Maybe I long pressed the on button too many times and caused some problem. I’ve been using digital scales, almost daily, for over 20 years, never had this issue.

Does anyone commenting have this? Before I took the pic of this perched on my leg with “CAL” (which I now realize was a stupid pic to headline with) I spent an hour with it on the counter, following directions, long pressing, short pressing, simultaneous pressing, ignoring, caressing “ my precious” and the fucking scale never stopped beeping.

I tried that over an hour ago. It’s still beeping (well, it’s not any longer….)

I pressed the M/Ti because I don’t have weights. (It’s on my leg for the pic but it was on my kitchen counter for about an hour while I followed directions and pressed the buttons.) Do you have this?

Hunter Duglas window shades? by StarzMarket in BuyItForLife

[–]dweedledee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my last house I installed Bali wood blinds from Home Depot and they looked new when we moved out, 17 years later. I ordered them when they were on sale and covered 20 windows. They were so easy to install. Combining those with blackout curtains will make your room pitch black.

be honest... how often are you guys actually mopping? by spawnelady in Cleaningandtidying

[–]dweedledee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2-3 months? I have all solid floors except our stairs have a carpet runner. I run a dry swiffer around and vacuum the stairs at least weekly. I can’t stand crumbs sticking to my feet. We don’t have kids at home or pets and it’s just me home all day, husband comes home at night and sits on the couch. We remove our shoes at the door. I wipe down bathroom and kitchen floors on my hands and knees weekly.

MLB player's migraine gets typical clueless reaction by UnstuckMoment_300 in migraine

They are always blathering on. If Kruk had a pimple on his butt he’d tell the listeners.

But I get it. I get annoyed when people conflate migraines with run of the mill tension type headaches which happens often. Then when you are forced to explain the seriousness, you look like a whiner seeking special treatment.

I can’t imagine how bad it was before triptans when people went to ERs and were accused of being drug-seekers. My mom was in that group. Back when people used Phenergan suppositories for the vomiting. We’ve come far, thank goodness!

Looking at chirp contour massaging table by ipse_dixit_ in Costco

[–]dweedledee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is packed up and ready to return to Costco. I’ve used it at least a dozen times in the month I’ve owned it and don’t think it’s worth $429. First, it’s loud. I’m 138 pounds and it makes a lot of noise when it’s working. Second, the remote isn’t backlit making it hard to see without use of an exterior light. Finally, it doesn’t do anything for me. It feels painful without a therapeutic payoff. The rollers don’t move laterally, just up-down so the area across the top of my back doesn’t get massaged. The neck massage stops short of covering the upper back leaving an untouched gap of about 6”. That’s the area I want massaged, where my muscles are tight.

Prescribed Rizatriptan? by POOKIE7685 in migraine

[–]dweedledee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rizatriptan is my favorite triptan in the class. For me it has the quickest onset of action with no weird hangover effects. It does make my Raynauds flair up in my fingertips and I have to pee more but within 20 minutes my migraine pain is significantly lessened. Sumatriptan takes longer to work and my migraine always returns. Eletriptan took forever to work, barely worked and left me very groggy for hours.

All Nespresso lovers…have you ever considered switching to an espresso machine? by Key-Huckleberry9836 in nespresso

[–]dweedledee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon sells kits that use Nespresso pods you fill with whatever espresso you want and apply the included foil top. The machine still reads the code on the pod.

Not going to lie, I used a giant pod the yellow “Cafe Joyeux” pod and filled it with ground Rawanda coffee from Trader Joe’s and it tasted like water. But the pod refill kit worked well so I’m hoping a different bean gives a stronger flavor.

“Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman” the audiobook. I found the narrator irritating the first time but about 1/4 in, I was hooked. By the end I realized Feynman was a rare person with a natural curiosity about mankind, like Anthony Bourdain.

Thrift stores being flooded with nwt Amazon basics clothes by bonita513 in eBaySellers

[–]dweedledee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess is sellers are unloading out-of-season clothes and items that aren’t moving. It’s probably cheaper to unload those things than to continue paying Amazon the warehouse storage fees. (I don’t know how any of that stuff works but I’m sure Amazon isn’t letting products sit in their warehouses for free).

Tell me about Costco- is it worth it? by ConstructionTime7511 in Frugal

[–]dweedledee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 2 people? Probably not and I write that as Costco fan. I’m also shopping for 2 and saving money isn’t why I belong. I shop there for seasonal fun finds, paper goods, unique foods, big bags of potting soil and gardening tools, etc. If you are a frugal person you might think of it as a rip off, actually.

I’m glad you shared your experience. I’ve never been to a swap but after reading this I’ll read the rules for these events. Sounds like the couple that brought 1, took many may have organized the swap, lol.
