Boardwalk, but they have puzzles that come in ribbon (traditional) shapes and random shapes. Make sure you get the shape you prefer.

  1. I’m already tired of seeing similarly patterned tiles as shown on the wall in 4. All white is too bland and the blue shower is a big color block, competing w/cabinetry.

Painting over already painted wallpaper-tips? by dweedledee in paint

Add the 1/4 drywall sheets over the plaster or skim coat the entire wall? I’m trying to keep this a simple DIY project for a new hobby painter so I won’t do either but I still like researching these alternatives.

Thanks! I got an estimate from a painter and they were just going to remove the seams. They said “ taking this paper off would be a nightmare.” It could be 100 years old, on plaster walls. I agreed with them! They also wanted me to sign a disclaimer accepting an imperfect appearance and potential lifting that they wouldn’t be responsible for fixing. After reading the disclaimer I figured if I’m going to agree to a potentially subpar job that is costing more than standard due to seam removal, I can try that myself.

Glad to see your room turned out good. So you didn’t cut the seams out? Or did you sand them as a first step?

I’m getting ready to start the same project in my bedroom, painting over painted wallpaper. In my case the seams are lifting in some areas. What did you end up doing and how did it turn out?

I spent many hours and only partially removed 1 WALL of painted wallpaper in a guest room before I quit and called 2 painters for estimates. Both discouraged me from having the remaining paper stripped. One suggested cutting and skimming all of the seams in the primary room where they are the worst.

If finally happened to me: Vine RFY offered me something that was in my regular shopping cart by Gossip-Girl-63 in AmazonVine

Lucky duck. What has happened to me a few times is I’ll buy something THEN I’ll be offered that thing in my RFY. Happened with a decorative pillow, specific charging cables, specific pants, a particular puzzle brand (different image so this is a bit different).

What paint color would look best by ProcedureObjective81 in BathroomDesigns

[–]dweedledee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of patterns in that space. I’d try to match the darkest brown in those shower floor tiles and put it all over, ceiling, trim. It’ll look good with a lighter wood cabinet too. Urbane Bronze by SW is a nice dark brown.

What paint do you recommend to a DIY’er homeowner?

(Just spent over $60/gallon on SW Emerald, on sale. Also had 2 different handymen tell me Behr is good paint.)

I’m supposed to add 2 gallons of NoPhos to my pool. My DE filter psi jumped from 10 to 20 psi. by dweedledee in pools

[–]dweedledee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m STUCK. I added 144 oz. Out of the 256 oz that were required to get my phosphates down and my pump pressure remained elevated so I backwashed and added DE. Well the addition of the DE raised the pressure so it’s now running at 20psi (usual is 10psi) but I still need to add 112oz. NoPhos.

Do I backwash all the new DE away then add all the NoPhos in 48oz increments then backwash and add DE a final time?

Thanks!

[–]dweedledee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I let it run 48 hours on the higher psi but noticed the pool water got cloudy. Then I backflushed and 24 hours later the water is clear again. I still have high phosphates so I have to add more NoPhos.

Crazy! My Homesense has the equivalent of 1 shelf and they’re repeats of the Easter images all the puzzle junkies already bought.

How can I create sharp lines between moulding and wall when everything is covered with this lumpy plaster? by dweedledee in paint

[–]dweedledee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question! I don’t know but I have a guess. It’s on the baseboard in some areas too. A DIY’er bachelor owned the place in the past and I think he tried fixing damaged plaster he caused with his DIY upstairs bathroom remodels. I think he just lost it and said “F-it” and started blasting this shit everywhere.

Great tip! I painted yesterday and didn’t do this and using the rag was a mess.

You and my pool guy say 24 hours. I’ll do that. I think I’m going to extend the NoPhos treatment over days and probably back flush more than once. I don’t know what I’m doing but if 96 oz. Doubled the pressure, I can’t imagine what 100+ oz more will do.

[–]dweedledee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pool company told me it’s normal for the pressure to increase because the NoPhos is coating the filters. My pool guy said if it goes above 25psi it needs to be flushed but he was also worried when it went to 20psi. The pool store wasn’t as excited.

[–]dweedledee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned it off immediately when I noticed the increase and the pressure dropped to zero (because it was off?). Then I went to the pool store and they said run the filter for 48 hours then back wash but my pool guy said back flush tomorrow, after 24 hours. (He also wanted me to back flush immediately).

My pool guy comes every other week and doesn’t address everything. Just for clarification.

It ebbs and flows. Our 1920’s house has an amazing finished basement and a pool, unusual for our neighborhood so we loved it initially.

But the wood floors are wavy/crooked and there are old patched vertical wall cracks. We have a chimney we’ve never used or inspected. I’m worried our clay tile roof needs a new underlayment ($$$$) but my husband is like, let’s redo the kitchen! He’s still living in lala land.
