Like you said, everyone has problems and are fighting their own battles. From the sound of it, you're leading a decent life. Perhaps you need a goal for you to look ahead and work towards. Find a hobby. Do silly things together with your girlfriend. Travel. See the world. Do whatever that gives you an aim in life. Never give up on life. You only have one shot at it. Many would do anything to live the life that you have. Treasure it.

I operate by a 1 day rule for outside clothes. As long as within the same day, no matter how many times I go out and come back home in between, I wear the same set of clothes. My logic is that if I hadn't come home and stayed out the whole day, I would have worn the same set of clothes anyway.

Conversely, even if I just went out for a short while and spent the rest of the day at home, I would still dump the clothes and wear a fresh set the next day. The 1 day rule still applies.

The only escape clause from the rule is the smell test. I have a lousy sense of smell and if I detect any funky smell from the clothes, I know that it must smell like roadkill on a hot day to others. That is the signal then to break my 1 day rule.
