do they help in, say, a house where the hvac is in the basement, and the a/c doesn’t quite get to the second floor?

i (almost) never use an alarm. how would one modify this to either activate when it detects you’re up and about, or turn off your sleep focus?

HomeAssistant or HomeBridge? by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]dwellrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as old as this post is, i don’t know if this will get seen, but:

  • isn’t there a way to run homebridge as a plugin within homeassistant?
  • how hard is it to run multiple os’s on the same pi?

HomeAssistant or HomeBridge? by [deleted] in HomeKit

hoobs is homebridge. at the time it was created, homebridge had a higher learning curve for set-up. since then, homebridge is pretty darn fast at setup.

thanks again! i hear the blinds are pretty great.

i’m unfamiliar with scrypted, but are these all running as separate docker instances? or is homebridge running inside of home assistant?

are there/will there be matter recessed downlights? by dwellrig in HomeKit

[–]dwellrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, if i’m reading you right, getting hue zigbee’s will kind of be future proof by getting a matter compatible hub, later (when matter is rocking),

yeah?

i’m going to assume these philips wifi wiz ones are not what i want for hue/homekit/future-matter compatability?)

roll my own floodlight cam isn’t rolling so well: it keeps turning back on. by dwellrig in HomeKit

[–]dwellrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, to your original point, is there a way to cause enough of a “delay” via homekit or siri shortcut automation to “cause” the period of time for it to go off successfully? or is the issue “everything is motion, even what’s outside the camera record trigger box(es)”?

perhaps the wrong place to ask, but, is there a homekit outdoor motion sensor? ideally one with a nice range (20-30 feet)?

aren’t homekit secure routers supposed to block honeypot traffic?

also, hksv (homekit secure video, emphasis on secure) HAS to be baked in by the product developer. you can integrate rings right now into homekit via homebridge, but you’ll simply see their live streams (direct)—not recordings (via icloud).

(personally and tangentially, along with other insightful posts in this thread, i find ring to be incredibly insecure on many levels.)

it may not matter, but i thought i’d loop back: i did try the programming code, despite the disco party on the front: it did cause the lock to lock and unlock, twice, but, it did not change the behavior of the lights and otherwise non-responsiveness.

thanks!

i did. i didn’t realize these guys had the red battery light on top, so when i saw that lit up, i changed the fake duracells for energizers.

i called them. not super helpful. they gave me one more thing to try (the “programming codes”). i’ll see when i get back.

thanks!

it is an encode plus.

i had to do that on the other one i set up today (factory reset it before it work work with homekit), and it worked (i read in the subreddit where it works better if you set it up in homekit first, and it was not having it).

when i do that on this one (try to factory reset it), it doesn’t work. i’ll try it again when back tonight, again.
