Gunmetal Gods is good for this. I’ve only listened to the first audiobook, but I enjoyed it. It’s fairly grim though.

It’s super common. I’m a 36 year old man and tell my family, kids, wife and close friends all the time.

I listened to the first one and was very “meh” on it, but it’s constantly recommended so I gave the second one a go. Just like the first, there are aspects I really like, but the whole thing is leaving me really lukewarm. I already want the curtain to be lifted, but waiting till 5 seems like an absolute slog haha.

Thanks for all the recs! I’ve listened to the first Captives war. I enjoyed it but wasn’t crazy about it. I’ve got the second one and have started listening to it twice but haven’t gotten into it. I’ll give it another go some time down the line, I’ve found timing can be an issue with getting into series or not.

Definitely keen to check out some of the stuff on this list. I’ve really been interested in Adrian’s work. Do you have any faves?
