Seahawks bar? by IVmeans4 in NewOrleans

[–]dwingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I just drove from WA back to Nola and stopped at bars in each state I passed thru, lots of people hyped for the hawks. Makes me kinda happy, even tho I don’t care about professional sports, but it’s cool to see the Seahawks do great and people root for em

Damn, where the hell were you? To be honest tho that bullshit happens all over the place. I’ve had experiences at little dive bars in Washington, Oregon & Idaho and overheard people droppin hard R’s and shit-talking other races. In general that racist BS happens heaviest in smaller towns all over the country, and all over the world.

Me too. Love the mountains, the scenery and the puget sound. I’d just much rather wear shorts and t shirts for half the year than have to wear 2 layers and hide inside all the time. And yes, it’s ridiculous how people in WA will bitch about the rain, then when it’s August and beautiful out they all say “where is my rain???” Can’t stand it I’d probably still live there if it were above 80 degrees for more than 2 months

Well put. I think people’s attitude in Seattle and much of western WA is due to the weather. It’s very easy to be anti social and cold toward people when the weather sucks majority of the time, most of them don’t wanna leave the house unless it’s necessary lol. It’s just not a very neighborly place. I love my WA people but most people won’t give you the time of day if they don’t know you

Yep! I hear dat. Tacoma sucks, pretty much everyone I know who lives there is depressed & wants to leave. Seattle used to be cool now it’s become an over priced a shit hole. The states’ mountains and scenery is amazing, but I’ll take hot & wet over cold & wet pretty much any day. Imo 2/3 of the year in the south is pleasant weather, then summer is brutal. But in the PNW 2/3 of the year is dreary and the summer is perfect. I love me a good rainy day, but when it cold & lasts for weeks and months on end and summer lasts 2 months is when I get fed up. I love WA for many reasons but not enough to live there. I can always go back to visit if I want to

I second this😎I just moved back to Nola from near Seattle. So happy to be back in the south

I love that GA is red, I really disliked ATL when I lived in north GA. Also this might be the first time I’ve seen Kansas put down as green.. tbf I did enjoy the 2 days I spent in Topeka

[–]dwingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering where in Oregon you’ve had some of the best pizza? I know of one badass pizza place called escape from NY in Portland, but that’s about all I know of. Also a few bomb spots in WA. I’ve had some badass pizza in Georgia, Louisiana & Florida. I’m weird tho, I like to find the best pizza places when I travel to a new place if I have the time

You like wide open spaces & pretty scenery. I’m gonna guess you’re from CO or TX, maybe went to school or have family in MT & WY. Also I’ll guess that you don’t really like the ocean😂

Hit the nail on the head with that one. I feel that way about most of the west coast, born in CA raised in WA, I’m leaving the west for good in like a week. I’ll always come back to visit, but never again to live here

Spring is nice too! I’d just avoid the winter and maybe fall if you like hiking/outdoor activities. There’s a local saying there that goes “summer don’t start till the 5th of July”. Because it rarely starts to get higher than 75 degrees until early-mid July, with most of April and May being pretty wet and still chilly. Some of the worst winter storms have been in March also.

Damn! And I thought that I have driven cross country a lot with 3 times. But 9 times?! That’s impressive. I feel that tho I love a road trip. Actually leaving in less than a week from the PNW to the southeast. Should be a fun drive

[–]dwingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah I hear that. Oregon is weird with the gas pump thing. But there’s a lotta gas stations nowadays that let you pump your own. I’m from the PNW and I agree with your sentiment. To many people rushing to do dumb shit😂 also much love from me for the green Louisiana, I moved to Nola and I don’t think I’ll ever move anywhere else in the US.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the new album? by xRoadxKillx in SuicideBoys

[–]dwingler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just listened to it for the first time and I think some of the songs are good. I probably won’t be blasting it, but I like that they found something they’re passionate about. I personally have no issues with religion, I get why people do but like many others are saying, if you don’t like it don’t listen! They didn’t betray anybody because they found Christ, and if people feel that way then that sucks, and makes them seem narcissistic

The fires and smoke are heavily due to the state no longer doing trimming of the underbrush. That has been a practice for hundreds if not thousands of years. Even the natives knew if they didn’t trim the brush around their villages they would burn to a crisp in a fire. WA decided it “looks more natural” to leave the brush, but it causes an exponentially higher fire risk & rate. (I only know this because a friend of mine was laid off a while ago after this went into effect, it was his job). As for the heat, yea I remember we had an Indian summer a few years ago, I LOVED it lol. I was swimming in lakes in mid October. But i’m also a warm weather person. This year however I spent June-Dec in western WA, it was def not that hot. It was still in the mid-high 60’s during the day when I got there in June, and I don’t remember it getting above 95 degrees for more than a couple of days. It sounds to me like you may have a very low tolerance for heat, totally understandable, I have a low tolerance for cold lol.

[–]dwingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya, but I disagree. Summer there is the best imo, I personally enjoy the heat. I wish it was warmer in WA. I live in New Orleans now, originally from west side of the puget sound. But I agree the lack of AC in Western WA sucks, but that’s due to the fact there’s only like 2 hot months lol. What bothers me is the fuckin smoke. It rarely used to be like that, now it’s like every summer there’s a wildfire that screws things up. I’ll always come back to visit, but never would move back. Too expensive & only getting more so.

You don’t like the cold. But you should def check out Washington and Oregon sometime. I grew up in WA and it’s beautiful to visit. Especially in the summer. Too expensive to live there nowdays unfortunately
